Hacking Does the WiiMotePlus still have problems with Homebrew Channel, USB Loader GX and whatnot?

I'm considering repurchasing a Wii Remote (mine's broken), and I'd like to know beforehand: does the WiImotePlus have problems with it? I remember hearing it did back in the past. Does WiiMotePlus work just fine with the HBC and whatnot?

Original (not vWii) Wii, HBC 1.1.2

It works fine with HBC 1.1.2 and all current loaders. Some apps like MultiModManager will still require a GC controller or pre-WMP remote but you can always use YAMM or WiiMod/WiiModLite.

MultiModManager Works fine with my Wii Motion Plus Remotes. Don't know about the other ones.

There are two models of the WM+ remotes. I have one that works and one that doesn't.

Oh ok, I got some WM+ remotes around early 2011 with the Motion Plus built in.

The black one I got right when they were originally released works with older homebrew but the pink one I got a year ago doesn't.

I have needed to use SDFormatter once or twice (that lifesaver program really needs to be a sticky!) to repair a damaged USB, but they work fine. I've used it with both Nintendont and USB Loader GX and it works seemlessly.

I guess my USB is just especially higher quality and most of these USB complaints are from lower-end knockoffs.

And yet! Recently, Nintendo did break The Homebrew Channel. No, it wasn’t a system update. It wasn’t a new Wii model (though they did release a new Wii, it turns out it works just fine). What they came up with was a new Wiimote, which, completely by accident, happens to be incompatible with the previous version of The Homebrew Channel.

You see, way way back in 2006 when the Wii came out, someone figured out that you could send commands to the Wiimote in a certain way. Libraries were developed, and eventually we had support on the Wii itself with the advent of Wii homebrew. And yet, nobody though to question the way we were sending the commands. Nobody bothered to check whether the Wii itself was doing the same thing.

As it turns out, it wasn’t. It was using a different method of sending data to the Wiimote. The Wiimote itself supported both – until the new RVL-CNT-01-TR model came out, that is. They probably had to trim the firmware to make space for the Motion Plus stuff.

-The new RVL-CNT-01-TR Wiimotes are now supported. Unfortunately, although HBC itself will work, there’s no way it can make existing homebrew work with it too – authors will have to recompile using the latest libogc SVN. C’est la vie!

An easy way to tell if your Wii Remote Plus is one of the newer "RVL-CNT-01-TR" models (And so whether or not it will work with older homewbrew) is by checking the FCC ID printed on the side:-
-If the FCC ID is "BKERVL036" then it likely wont work with old homebrew.
-If the FCC ID is anything else (e.g. YE5-WRIG, POO-WC62, VIYCFS8510) then it should work fine.
