Nicalis has brought the classic top-down arcade style shooter Ikaruga to the Nintendo Switch, today. The game is now on the eShop, for $14.99, and offers two ways to play and three difficulty settings. This is the second time the game finds itself on Nintendo hardware, originally being ported from the Dreamcast onto the GameCube in 2003, and 15 years later on the Switch.

Keep in mind Ikaruga plays very different from something like Touhou. It's very focused on just using the correct color at the correct time to get through patterns, not as much precise dodging. I think there isn't even a way to focus/slow move. It's a great game though, just don't go in expecting it to play the same.

Fair enough, but man... I didn't buy (and win) Switches to be port machines... I want more third-party exclusives.

Nice addition for the Switch.
I dont have a Switch (yet), but recently vc-injected the GCs Ikaruga to my WiiU, and i gotta say, playing on the gamepad screen with the vertical 'tate' mode is cool af.

Wow I should revisit this game. I ended up watching a let's play and thought to myself, no way I could survive this game if I keep dying and restart the lefel from beginning

This game is imo over rated. I prefer much more Dodonpachi, Guwange, ESP Ra De or Striker 1943 III+.
