Does the Wii U even have the raw power to emulate PSP?


Does the Wii U even have enough juice to run it decently? Granted, it's less demanding than DeSmuME, but still.

Maybe it can run? Does ppsspp have a PPC versión?

I dunno, there must be a reason why it is being ported.

I doubt it would be able to run the most demanding games, but give me ridge racer and Castlevania and it will render the PSX core obsolete for me

well afaik psp emu is very well optimized and if it has dynarec it should work fine imo atleast with most games, but i wonder if dynarec was ported too?

I think dynarec is still in the process of being written, not sure. I'm wondering why they would port the core over to Wii U if it wasn't optimized.

Yes it seems to work ,some games are still a bit slow but I guess they will get fixed up later down the line

metal gear portable ops or peacue walker i guess no original, also i dont think they will ever run fullspeed on wiiu tbh.

I didn't expect to see PPSSPP on Wii U, and I'm glad I was proven wrong

It's in early state. Even so this is a massive achievement. If it can reach almost full speed with some games so soon, it is very promising

I don't get why people are doubting the Wii U being powerful enough to run PPSSPP well. PPSSPP is so optimized that it runs well on Smartphones and even Chromebooks.
Heck, my Chromebook has worse hardware than the Wii U (aside from having a amd64 processor) and it manages to run Project Diva at full speed with minimal framedrops!

It's a different architecture altogether. You can't compare PPC and ARM/X86 clock per clock.
IPC is most likely very poor compared with a modern smartphone, remember the architecture dates back to 1997. Besides clock speed the biggest architectural improvement over Wii/GCN is out of order execution.

I think WiiU may be as fast as a midrange PC from ~2009.
