Hardware Switch Buyback with New Revision?

Eh, doubt they will increase the screen resolution. Besides, it's not like the Switch's display looks bad as is.
It’s not bad at all, but for the 3ds family they would have had to scale everything and games with 2 resolutions. We already got this for the switch and it wont be such a big problem for big N. But on the other hand aren’t they even using the USB C standard.

Don't expect anyone, ESPECIALLY hackers, and even casual users to give up their consoles for a newer console that was simply "hackproof" with no other differences.

2. I'm not overestimating anything. You're assuming that everyone would turn in their Switches when in reality, most probably wouldn't care about a buyback program, especially us on GBATemp. I don't think it'd cost them in the range of millions.

Already mentioned this. I don't expect everyone to turn in their switch, but casual users who are offered a upgrade path to a stronger console may take it. Same thing they did with the 3DS (though this was typically done by retail stores and not Ninty themselves).

>resolution
>size

They aren't the same thing. Yet you claim it was a major display resolution upgrade, when the size was the only thing that changed.
Fine. The "size" increased, but the internal resolution stayed the same. Besides terminology, does this really change my argument? Not like I didn't say "screen size", but whatever.

Why not? The 3DSXL was a major display resolution upgrade. The internal rendering resolution was the same, but the screen size did increase. I admit, the buyback is a little less likely now that we know what the new units are supposed to do. But its still in the realm of possibility, especially after they announce the new dockless sku, which I gurantee is probably comprised of Markio revision units.

Buyback won’t happen:
- Nintendo sells their 3Ds systems without power supply to keep the price and profit in check
- Nintendo never sold their systems with a net loss for them, they can’t. What should they do with the bought back consoles change the soc and sell as refurbished? They can’t sell them as new.
- The third Party support is weak, even on the switch. Most games are released on the PS4 XB1 simultaneous to the pc, the switch gets doom, Diablo, a 2016 FIFA. They don’t make much on Online either (a lot for the few things they offer, but a lot of people won’t buy it). The titles that sell online are FIFA, COD, Battlefield - Not BotW, Mario Odyssey, 2016 FIFA without the crowd for ultimate team.

Furthermore do $ony and M$ not depend their gaming business. M$ got windows and the pc Branche, Sony got TVs, Music etc.

A buyback could equalize Nintendo’s well earned pile of cash the got since the switch release.

It matters, because you replied to me when I said I doubt the resolution would be increased. The difference between "resolution" and "size" is very significant when discussing this matter.

"The internal rendering resolution was the same, but the screen size did increase"

I don't even know why we're arguing this. The context was there.

Please try to pretend you are an adult. A recall, buyback, whatever would never happen. Would be massively expensive.

I hate all of you, sincerely. The fucking thread is two months old. We have information that we didn't have before. Stop.
Because your sentence made no sense. That's all.

It made perfect sense. You were just looking for a reason to take it out of context, even though you knew exactly what I meant. This seems to be a staple in the community. I'm done replying to this thread.

No, It made no sense. You started by saying it received a major upgrade in resolution, then went on and said the resolution was the same.

It did make sense, though. The only problematic word was that "display resolution" should have said "display size".
Not considering that when he replied to me, I was talking only about resolution.

As for screen size, I think that at most they'll try to increase it while keeping the same overall size of the device. The bezels *could* be smaller, but as a handheld device it already is a pretty big thing, don't expect them to make it any bigger.
