i sure people think the new Pokemon for Switch will be exclusively for that console, Im sure it'll come out for 3ds too. Nintendo has frequently said 3ds isnt dead yet and we heard Pokemon Stars was a port of Sun/Moon for NSW. With the giant number of 3ds out there i dont think Nintendo will abandon that established consumer base.

on that note what do you guys think? do you guys think the switch will be able to communicate with 3ds? IDK i had to just put that out there

(i forgot to put in a van-damme POLL)

I thought they already officially announced that mainline pokemon is done on 3DS.

If not you'll get confirmation of that fact in mere weeks.

going by recent rumors i think lgpikachu will be on 3ds ad lgeevee on switch like the first mystery dungeon series

judging by the leaked screenshot and its horrible graphics which still looks just like a 3ds game. I wouldn't be suprised if they announce a 3ds version. I even would be mad if not, atleast they would have an excuse for that mess.

On top of this, Pokemon Switch was vaguely announced back at, E3 I believe? Something like that, said to be exclusively for Switch.

its $80($75+tax) for a two pack of pokemon + usually a collectable on 3ds. its gonna be $135 for two switch games.

im sure the switch version will be fine

Jesus christ. Our Switch games in Canada are $79.99 + taxes and that equals to $90 of our precious dollars.

I much rather buy/play the 3DS version, for pete's sake.

I wish they would go full out on the 3DS and 3D capability's with the new 3DS. I would love to see a full blown 3D world with pokemon that looks great.

If they were to make a new Pokemon game for the 3DS it REALLY has to be N3DS only like playing Ultra Moon/Sun and seeing the Yungoose cutscene lag on a N3DS just because they had to make it so the o3ds systems could play it also.

Pokemon is done on 3DS. It's coming to switch. Diamond and Pearl weren't on the GBA. XY weren't on the DS. These games won't be on the 3DS. But chill, it's only $60 unless you live in some 3rd world country

I hope not. They should focus fully on Switch. I dont want a port :/
Nintendo honestly needs to stop making games for the 3DS and I really hope the next Pokemon games aren't on the 3DS.

To be honest, if nintendo wants the 3ds to live, they should focus on both. Not giving one attention means only one thing: Death. And as far as i understand, he's saying that there will be a 3ds version. So switch version and 3ds version doesnt sound bad. At least you'll have a choice. The same as PS vita and PS4. You could buy the version you like the most

If they want to keep the 3ds line, they should ditch the old 3ds line and focus in harnessing the power of New 3ds line. They cant keep on holding back for the older generation. The new line was only 3 years old and almost 4x more powerful so there is more to it than what people see. Also, the 3ds is nearing its end. People has bought the 3ds and owns it. Cant expect them to buy a hardware they already own. Unless they release a newer generation, it will stay the same. Besides, the switch is far more flexible and is the home of indies. A wide variety of games makes them prefer the 3ds more. The 3ds receives like 1 or 2 games a month now. Sometimes none.

This is what I want to happen, I want the 3DS to die already and for them to focus on the Switch. The 3DS has more than overstayed it's welcome and Nintendo needs to phase it out already.

I think the plan was always to carry it to mid-2019 at least, but it gets its own individual announcements still. I don't think the new Pokemon games will be on 3DS, and honestly nobody will want them to be after they get a taste of HD and 60 FPS. 3DS has had three separate pairs of Pokemon games already, time to move on indeed.

There is no way in hell they are making the new Pokemon cross platform. Pokemon is going to be one of the biggest system sellers early on and making it cross platform would ruin that.

If that screenshot that was "leaked" turns out to be real then the new games are nothing more than ports themselves.
I really hope that screenshot is fake because it looks like a 3DS game (literally looks identical to the existing 3DS games), the Switch can do so much better.

It was pretty bad in X/Y too.

They don't want the 3DS to live at the expense of the Switch, making it multiplatform would result in less Switches sold.
The only reason the 3DS is still alive is because they are milking the last few dollars out of everyone before people ditch the 3DS entirely, you can tell the 3DS is dying by the upcoming releases lists.

Agreed. But judging by what we've seen they might as well be.

IIRC all they said was "Pokemon is in development for the Switch", there was no real information besides that obvious fact.

Remember how laggy X/Y was in 3D? Hell, every mainline Pokemon game on the 3DS was laggy even in 2D.
I'd love that too, but it's not realistic. Game Freak just can't code 3D games properly to make good use of the 3DS' limited specs. Look at games like Monster Hunter and even some of the early releases like Kid Icarus, those games look great compared to the Pokemon games on 3DS and they run better too.
