I'd say the timetables for both are still speculative at this point.

Quite right. Development is at the pace the developers are willing to invest, and they wont release until they feel it is ready. However, I would rather have Atmosphere than the closed software from TX.

That's also speculative for the moment, though. TX have a physical product(s) to sell, and portable payload delivery is still tempting. I think they could get by just fine if they opened up their CFW to everybody. Theirs is a (relatively) easy, all-in-one solution.

Who's talking about atmosphere :D
Ah right, my bad. It's like 2AM here, I blame sleepyness.

You haven't looked into atmosphere much have you?
You won't need to spoof firmware, because it will use emuNAND that will be updated to latest firmware. That also means all future games will also work perfectly fine.
Also its not just patching horizon. It also uses fully custom reimplemented versions of certain services, which definitely falls into custom firmware.
You're right, I haven't. I'm brand new to Switch homebrew after waiting around with a Switch collecting dust in my closet for nearly a year now.
The lack of a centralized knowledge base doesn't help much. I don't know if there's one on the ReSwitched Discord since I was never let into the server. I'm just going off of bits and pieces of what I pick up reading through the forum plus common sense. Thank you for better filling me in.

I have plans for my own ultraportable dongle. The only downside is that it is USB-A instead of USB-C (But that's fixable with an adapter). I also own a FDM printer, so I can make the jig too if I want. (But will instead hardmod a joycon with a switch)

If anything, I think I could pirate their whole schtick.

I mentioned it previously (and now that I am past noobie stage, and can post links), but THESE THINGS are totally hackable, and can run OpenWRT. The only downside is USB-A plug, instead of USB-C plug.

Since the injector can run on linux, it can run on this plug. The plug is powered by the port it connects to, and yes-- that USB port actually does work. (It also has dual Wifi PHYs, and some other goodies like a microSD card slot.

This thing can almost overnight do the exact same injection trick as the eXecutor dongle. In fact, it would be more configurable than their dongle, as it is a whole SoC that is user programmable (after you put the OpenWRT firmware on).

The question I have--- Does RCM mode work while in the dock? If so, just plug this bad boy into the USB-A port in the back of the dock and leave it there.
Sure, but how would you "press" the RCM buttons?

If you mean "Choose to boot cfw" from the IPL launcher, I remind you that the IPL is open source, and I can make it skip straight to that option without need of the window quite trivially.
If you mean "Hold the power and volume button", I am really at a loss of words here. How lazy do you have to be?

Dont understand what he is doing here then :rofl2:
Gloating much today, are we?

Chances are, that when you experience that others "always have to be right" in conversations on the internet, when questions have a factual answer - its you rather then them. :)

Greatest example of that I recently saw was a "I'll be your best friend" youtuber producing a vlog titled "how ebay screwed me over" - where he detailed, how two of his recent sells had been refunded to the buyers, because he sold a fake product and a broken one... And now had to "get them back", while the buyers "already had gotten their money".

People are bad judges of character.

You probably could, but you'd likely spend just as much time/money on that as it would cost to buy from TX, so that's more of a hobbyist activity than anything.

I wonder how the nerds are reacting to this thread on there gated discord.

if your speaking of the reswitched discord, i wouldnt call it gated (its quite easy to get into and they talk about mostly atmosphere) but there was recently a rule added to prevent talking about the modchip on the server so...thats how they're reacting xD

TX has yet to give a price. Units will be on sale "By the end of the week" according to their site. If unit price is below 16$, I cant beat them on price, but that zsun can do more than their dongle can. (It can host a local DNS filter, sit between the switch and the actual wifi network, because it has dual PHYs and can do bridging, can be used as a platform for various activities against the USB port, and of course, it can act like a USB stick adapter for the SDCard slot.)

I dont mind tinkering, and I doubt it would take me more than a few hours to get a functioning device AND a how-to put together. I have gotten quite comfortable with embedded linux (from hacking my NAS to serve as a small mini-server.)

Reswitched simply has the mentality of not talking about products that are designed to enable piracy. I can understand that this should not be discussed in the discord.
