have read a dozen of threads in gbatemp, and the blackscreen issue in nintendont injects are very common to wii u community, and mentioned they didnt know whats going on. but i just follow Mattkimuras tutorial on it..

1. boot mocha first
2. go to vwii
3. exit to vwii
4. boot again mocha 2nd time
5. launch nintendont.

for other guy have issues,
please see this thread to boot vwii with gamepad support/

that seems really tedious, are you sure you have the right files on your sd card?

In my case this works, first enter vWii then, hombrew ch and start Nintendont for the first time manually, then try injection.

Or any injected games and you should be fine. Apparently it's a known problem with some wii I'd.

Is there any more information on this? I'm finding that with injected gamecube games on wii u, sometimes they launch, and sometimes they don't. it's very inconsistent. it results in literally having to physically pull the power cable on the system.

I've also tried them on both the USB HDD and the NAND, both do the same thing.

booting into vwii mode > going to homebrew channel > launching nintendont > launching gamecube iso from SD card, that is completely reliable, but when you press the home button (while in gamecube game) to get back to the homebrew launcher, it often crashes to black screen too.

I've tried pretty much everything to get rid of this black screen:
- different SDs
- different HDD (self-powered and Y cable)
- different versions of Nintendont
- different config combo in the nincfg.bin
- Haxcii + CBHC + Mocha
- Teconmoon inject and Wii USB Helper
- Renaming GC games and extension before injection

But still getting the Black Screen after Black Screen. Fowarder failling also.

Vwii boot and back to WiiU menu before launching the game was the only option working 70% of the time.

My solution (everyone seems to have a different one) I am changing the resolution of the TV on the WiiU settings to 480p and 4:3.
Didn't get any issue since. All injections tested so far are working.

Hope it can help someone!

AFAIK, black screen is basically just Nintendont crashing. You can emphasize this by launching a new gamecube inject for the first time for which you don't any virtual memory card created. Nintendont will then create a new virtual memory card (.raw file in your saves folder on your SD card) when you launch your game for the first time.

Boot steps go like this :
Home menu  launching gamecube inject  vWii mode launch (Wii displayed on gamepad) boot to Nintendont  Nintendont creates a virtual memory card  game launch

If you get a black screen after seeing the virtual memory card being created in Nintendont, that means Nintendont is at fault here.

If you're using a USB gamecube controller adapter (or any other HID interface USB device) unplug it at boot and see what happens. This has been an issue for over a year where you had to plug the usb controller adapter only after Nintendont has booted.

Fortunately, the community just made a new patch to fix that issue . So I suggest you update Nintendont one last time by going there and grabbing the loader.dol file. Rename it boot.dol and replace the one on your sd card located in \apps\nintendont\boot.dol.
Hope this helps. :yayu:

I've never heard about the resolution change to 480p 4/3 to fix black screen though. How did you find it?

To be honest i have been looking around for a solution for a couple of years but without finding anything fixing my issue.
As you said it is Nintendont failing for some reason. Could be different things. The way I make it work might not be for everyone.
But never really understood why through the vWii it was working with no issue. Booting my Wii injects never had issues. The console downscale to 480p when vWii. So I tried, first I tried with aspect ratio 16:9 didn't work. Tried 4:3 solved the issue.

Also keep in mind that you have to switch back to HD when playing WiiU games which could be a deal breaker for some.

@KayBCN What games are you trying to play? If you're launching PAL games it can be kind of a mess. I know I've had problems with games like Luigi Mansion before patching it to run in 480p 60Hz (games is only 576i 50Hz in PAL). It can be tricky for us europeans.

A bunch of them. I might have about 60 GC games. Some of them are not booting but instead of the black screen it switch off the console, must be just bad injects.
Starting a game without the SD, usually gives you a "boot.dol missing", but in these cases not it shutdown the WiiU without launching Nintendont. Might just be a bad .Iso.
But beside of that all GC classics are booting with no issue.

I don't know much about this issue as I just use a nintendont forwarder with my games, but the issue seems to be related to the latest version of nintendont. don't download it overwrite it like it might have you do with the forwarder app.
