The only thing this announcement did for me was to encourage me to go on eBay, buy a 3d printed jig and explore the free alternatives.
Good for you man

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

It's no modchip. It's a fancy USB stick with a DRM'd-to-hell payload built in.
Which will be reverse engineered eventually
You people love to bitch about everything

its actually very very very common, its like saying OMG gunman having body armour....just because they are shooting doesn't mean they want to get shot themselves
Well someone may probably end up bypassing that DRM too.. or may be not. In any case I'll wait for atmosphere cfw with homebrew

We are going to run into the public/private header problem from the 3DS again though, and this time we might not be able to just take a header from one of our own games and use it to avoid bans, it might have to be a header from the same game.

I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case (not being able to strip headers from one game to use on another). Nintendo went full lockdown on the Switch over the 3DS, so to leave that "hole" open would genuinely surprise me after all the work they put in sorting the security aspect out.

Potentially, Xecutor could patch out the piracy checks for eShop titles with an update (since their glorified USB stick seems to support Firmware updates) but the first couple of months is going to be interesting. I'm fully expecting Nintendo to go on a ban rampage, using headers as "evidence" of piracy/modding etc.

Of course, users should ideally stick to offline only for this kind of modding but after the massive ban wave from that leaked Pokemon fiasco, I'd be surprised if they've learnt their lesson.

It's game specific. Some carts from third parties have run into Gold Coin and Update denial issues. So their servers can certainly differentiate.

I don't think there will be much need, the switch and pretty much silver bullet exploit is know, it would probably be less work to compete and make your own version than to try bypass their DRM

That entire "teaser" reminded me of Gateway, with these guys essentially profiting off of publicly available exploits. I'd rather wait for one where I don't have to pay (or a hardmod I could do myself).

Edit: Can I also just say that this music (from who I assume is Alan Walker) is exactly what you'd expect from this kind of video?

I wasn't bitching, but it seems from your post history you're quite the fanboy for this (so your response doesn't surprise me in the slightest).

It maybe RE'd eventually (which is no easy task in the first place - I speak from experience from the PS3 COBRA days), but by that point I think interest in it would have died (hence the low selling price, and with Atmosphere around the corner..).

Exploits are missing to handle Warm and Coldboot , if somebody wants to crash Xecuters Party just write how to play the backups
I think the only thing that would stop me from buying this is a softmod only solution with backup loading either out the box or relatively easy to set up. This thing looks about 100x simpler to use than Fusee (The biggest "problem" being the PC/Android connection. I want it to be as untethered as possible).

You would be the guy too ask since I've been more interested in the PS4 scene as of late but was it shiny who was trying to send payloads over bluetooth by using the joycon driver or?
