Flash drives aren't recommended though, they have lower compatibility and can cause issues.
True. However I have been using them since 2011 without issue.

To each his own.

Oh okay.. what issues?
I can't remember off hand but every now and then someone comes in with issues related to them using a flash drive. But not everyone runs into problems.
I wouldn't worry about it too much, just be aware that if you run into issues while using a flash drive it might be related to that.

Ok. Thanks for letting me know. Hope that y wire will be there tomorrow. I think it's really crazy how all of a sudden i'm back into all the older consoles and games. I mean, i'm from 86 so Nintendo, gameboy, n64 and stuff signed my childhood. But i also dig the new stuff too. Got a Xbox one, ps4 and even a Nintendo switch. But after all those years filled with next gen games i suddenly got the urge to move back to older games. When i found out what you can do with a wii u after the homebrew channel is on i was all fire. Just think it's totally wacky...in a positive way though :)

Most people just use Nintendont through a USB loader since they provide nicer GUIs, and those have forwarder channels easily accessible.

btw if you install nintendont as a wiivc inject fowarder you wont be able to use a hdd like sd card, you can install aingle games on your wiiu menu on your wiiu formated hdd but no acess to normal fat32hdd, to use a fat32hdd you have to use a wii or use nintendont from vwii.

Oh okay.. what issues?
a little late, but I'll answer that:

1)
in USBLoaders, It seems newer devices have detection issues. (not necessarily flash drives, it just seems to be affecting all devices)
this can be easilly fixed by using IOS58 instead of cIOS.
You don't have that problem with nintendont, because it always uses IOS58.

2)
it affects a lot of flash drives, but not ALL of them, that's why some people will argue flashes are fine :
a lot of flash device have issues with the write command.
they can be read fine (listing files, loading games, etc.), but can freeze and hang when writing to them, like creating file or just saving data to existing files.
It happens when generating or saving the nintendont memory card ! or on USBLoaders when dumping a disc to USB.
if nintendont crashes while you exit a game, it's very bad, it means it crashed while saving the memory card...

If you have that bug, it can corrupt your entire FAT32 partition and you'll lose your data, games and savegames. (no idea with exFAT)

But, like said, it's not affecting all devices. So, just try, and be sure you keep a backup of all your files located on that device, just in case.

This is a little late, but...
I thought shoof all that content on to the hdd and stick it into the wii u usb port...but of course that didn't work. What do i have to do so i can use my hdd just like my sd card??
Download WiiBackupManager, select “Tools” and then “Format Drive(s)”. Select Fat32 with 32K clusters. Also, don’t rename the drive after that or it won’t work in your Wii U (leave it as “Local Disc” or whatever its called).
You still have to use the SD card to launch the app iirc.
You CAN launch Nintendont from USB (copy the apps folder to your HDD). It’s best to have the ISOs and Nintendont on one drive, as it is almost guaranteed to work.

You can get a vWii forwarder channel for Nintendont (google it). Just make sure you get the vWii and not the original Wii version, as installing the wrong type of forwarder for your system can brick your console. Better yet, just launch your Gamecube games from USBloader GX. It’s more stable, more convenient, and you can configure individual settings for each game (in case one game boots under certain settings that prevent other games from booting).
You guys know whats best controller to use for wii64 on vwii??
OK now you’re just going completely off-topic. This thread was supposed to be about Nintendont. If you have any more questions just ask in a new thread, or better yet Google it and do some research.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
