Pretty sure that eBay will have some older switches that can have the exploits done on them so it's not all bad.

note that homebrew and hacking on the switch is kind of a real hassle compared to say, the 3ds

Yeah, that's what I thought too at the beginning. But that would justify my purchase of a Nintendo Switch.

Buy one from Gamestop next month, if you get a revision, just return it and try another Gamestop or store. I doubt the revisions will be here next month, because logistics, and there being already tons of Switches out in the wild!

I also don't want to purchase used Switches, I just want to begin fresh with a new one (I also don't use eBay)
I've also read on another thread that if you hold down the volume buttons that you will get to see the firmware immediately, is that true?
And also, with the new Switches out now that come with 5.x.x, are they (secretly) revised?

Thats actually a plus, to be honest.. (They are in the business of selling preorder vouchers, and skimming old games of of their customers for 2USD to sell them for 20USD - and they do it with all the flair of a US born megacorp (think Mc Donalds).)

Yuh, I don't blame you, I was the same way when I bought my Switch, which is still sitting in the box.

I don't think any Switches are a revision yet. It takes quite a while for new Switches to be shipped out, and there are already a ton of Switches out there, So even if there are revisions out there, it's a pretty low chance of you getting a revision, because the store would have to order new Switches. A store would only order new Switches, if they've run out, stores dgaf about hacking your Switch, or if the Switch is hackable.

I haven't tried it yet. I plan on getting a switch not this weekend but the following. Hopefully before all the hardware revisions set in. With my luck I will probably wind up with one. I'll let everyone know though. I will update the serial thread and here with my findings.

If you're interested, I can get you a guaranteed Switch on a firmware greater than 4, but less than 5, before hardware revisions were known to be needed for overcoming the exploit. I would have to ship from Canada, but it would be a guarantee. It's totally up to you, though.

I bought the Nintendo switch today, and turned it on by holding both volume buttons + power button. I'm in firmware 3.0.1!
I haven't even picked the language I will keep it that way until CFW comes out

Sooo I guess 3.0.1 is a good firmware?

The price is amazing and what’s more amazing is that they send it to Belgium and the Netherlands for us
But I have never purchased something on eBay, I don’t trust it. If it’s a good deal, convince me for buying it .

I was planning to buy a Nintendo Switch next month, just in time with the cfw but after looking at several threads I am afraid that I’ll buy a Non-hackable Nintendo Switch and that even the Switches that are sold now already could contain revised hardware. Is that true? And if I will wait till next month, would it be possible that I’ll be buying a revised Nintendo switch? And if it is already revised as of now, how do notice that?

Pretty sure the revised hardware isn't on the market yet, but that could change within a month. You'll no doubt hear about it here once people start getting non-hackable Switches so no reason to worry yet.

Nah, you can buy/make a jig. I just got mine in the mail and all I paid for it was £1.70 in shipping.

It bridges the pins without needing to open the Switch or JoyCon and without soldering anything.
I guess it's technically still a hardmod though but it's so easy that it doesn't matter.
