Newly bought switch with firmware 4.1,sdcard needs update to read and format.
I would rather stay in 4.1 till atmosphere formally released.
But will this interfere hacking like cannot soft mod or hard mod without a readable sdcard?
If you using Windows just use Rufus to format your ad card to fat32 then your sd card will work without any problem https://rufus.akeo.ie

A switch in 3.0.0 will format my 64gb in fat32 ?
Or in exfat ?

Wait, I'm going to buy a Nintendo Switch today.

In other words, I shouldn't put an SD-card at all if I want to be lower than 4.1.0??
Should I just wait to insert an SD-card until the CFW is released? :)

when I launch it with wine, there is no disk (sda, sd1 etc...)
And i'm still curious about minimum class speed.

I am also courius which card should i buy since Nintendo haven't stated it. Watched some vids at YT and do not know if it support U3 V30 card or maybe A1 card since it is for mobiles and is good for installing games/app on it with better speeds than normal card

I always bought sandisk sd card, I never get problem with it ^^

I don't know to for the speed, I put my sd cards on my console, I'm not paying attention to the sd card after

I also, but if/maybe is possibility to implement A1 support at CFW, since I think it will gain profit with emunand since it have minimum 10 MB/s for many files to handle same time.

I asked Kate few times about it, but she doesn't know yet. I'm afraid to buy 90 mb/s reading speed (Samsung one), but 128 gb isn't cheap in my country, so... Probably someone with money need to risk it for tests, or wait for Kate (i hope she's not forgot it).

I have a 90MB/s 256GB Samsung. Are there any games you'd like me to test load times with (eShop)? Most of the AAA games I have are cart except for DBZ and Bayonetta 1.

A Switch on 3.0.0 would ask for a firmware update and exfat driver installation once you insert a card bigger than 32 GB.
I formatted my 64 GB card on my PC with GUIformat23 and had no problems using homebrew on the Switch with it since.

Addition: You can use gParted to make multiple partitions (as are needed for Switch Linux).
Make a first big partition without formatting it so it's unformatted space. Create a second partition for Linux (ext4) of around 8 GB (or the size you wish).

Now make sure exfat-utils and fuse-exfat are installed:
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install exfat-utils fuse-exfat

Now identify the unformatted partition. In case it's sdb1 the command to format it to exFat would be:
Code:
sudo mkfs.exfat /dev/sdb1

Blunty tested U3 V30 32 GB and SD Ultra card, but we need some homebrew tester that gives us numbers...

Not sure this is the best suggestion though.

Now, I won't pretend I know how NAND backups and all that stuff is saved, but fat32 has a file size limit on 4 GB which could potentially be problematic.

EDIT: yeah, seems like *something* needs to be over 4GB at least.

Switch saves all larger files in 2gb splits so FAT32 is perfectly fine, even if you use exfat the files will still be split.
