Steam now supports the Switch Pro controller

IMG_7778.PNG

Valve's PC platform, Steam, has now added support for the Nintendo Switch Pro controller. In the latest Steam client beta update, you can use your controller by turning on the option for it in the settings. You can then customize the button layout for specific games, save presets, and use the gyro function for certain games that support it.

Greetings from the Steam Controller team. We’re pleased to announce that the latest Steam Client Beta adds support for the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. We think it is a great device with a feature set that pairs nicely with your Steam catalog. The d-pad is ideal for fighting games and platformers and the gyro enhances aim in your action/FPS titles. If you’d like to test it out you will need to opt into the Steam Client Beta then follow the steps below. We hope you enjoy and, as always, we welcome your feedback.

Don't have a switch, but I really liked the feel of switch pro controllers so I might end up getting one at some point when I have the cash to spare.

YESSSSSS! I've been using my Switch Pro controller as a "Generic Controller" through Steam for ages, so glad it now has official support! I love this controller, and now I love it even more! Gyro support's gonna be hella nice! Also, I can finally map the screenshot button to actually taking screenshots on Steam!

Any word on whether rumble is supported? Since there doesn't seem to be any other way to get rumble working with a Pro Controller on PC. There's one driver that claims to do it, but it's in a very alpha state and I couldn't get it to work at all.

Just tried things out with my Switch Pro controller and can confirm that there's full rumble support in all games! Very, very happy about this :D

I love the battery life of my pro controller and haven't cares about analog triggers in most games so this is a big plus in my books.

I tried it out earlier today. I just plugged in my pro controller via USB, and it just worked. I switch A/B and X/Y in settings since games typicality use the Xbox controller layout. Had to do that to play Super Meat Boy comfortably. Since I was using it wired, I don't need to re-sync it with my Switch which is nice.

If only we can get Wii Remote and GameCube controller support ;)
considering the Wiimotes use light to determine location, you'd need a light or candle on either side of your monitor. It's better to simply buy the USB bar (forgot the name, but I have one laying around here somewhere...).

I'm pretty sure if you have one of those, you can use it in steam. Maybe not the motion controls (haven't tried), but definitely the buttons and such.

Not much of a PC 'Master Race" When you use game console controllers to play your pc games.... The PC master race should not have to use console controllers if they are so much better then consoles.....

yes, consoles can use largest variety of controller, so you don't have to eat what platrformholder forces you to and act according to your own prefferences. Oh wait?... Ya... Bummer.
