I know I'm jumping the gun here, but gonna ask anyway..... based on the above Tweet and what you guys think it means will we still need to get one of those jig thingies and use Fusee OR will this be another way of doing the same thing ? Specifically on higher FW's... thanks

Reading between the lines, it sounds like shorting the pins to enter RCM mode will continue to be necessary but bootrom access might open new possibilities regarding whether or not we have to do it every time. Maybe. Complete speculation. For now, we only know that entering RCM mode is required and we should use that as our basis of assumption.

I'm waiting until Atmosphere is actually released. I'm sure Chinese versions of those jig things will hit eBay by then if it comes to it.

Right now you can enter RCM by either shorting a pin and holding buttons, or if you have 1.0 then you can run homebrew to trigger it.

Eventually you won't need 1.0 to trigger it via software, but the exploits are being held on to as long as possible as they may be useful as an entry point on the new mariko hardware.

You can also force the switch to always enter RCM by wiping out the bootloader, I haven't seen the information or tools to do that yet but it is supposed to be part of the full fusee gelee release.

Using Fusee gelee will always need RCM on a cold boot and be tethered to something to deploy the exploit (whether that is a PC, phone, raspberry pi or "modchip"). There is talk of another exploit, but I suspect that is reliant on some of the other private exploits which are being held on to.

I doubt it, Atmosphere is under active development so there's no way to know when it will be finished. And as far as I know he plans to release it when finished (even if he doesn't, the source code is available so anyone could compile it and release it).

Yeah it’s ready when it’s ready but it would surprise me if it was released around that date.

Now IDK how reliable a source as 4chan is unless someone else asked if this was SciresM or someone else from ReSwitched, but the commenter in the pic sounds like him to me at least.

Right? I mean, its not like the June 15th date doesn't make sense. If that is the real expected date, then that would mean ReSwitched planned on releasing everything simultaneously so we wouldn't have to wait in between any of their projects. But then the leak happened which threw a wrench in everyone's plans and not just theirs. But then there's the other issue that Atmosphere is a work-in-progress. SciresM is good, but he's still only one person at the end of the day. If they told us there was a specific month they were shooting for, that would be more realistic.

You’re right, the team was aiming to release both on the 15th of June.

Hopefully the fact we got an early release of fusee gelee may actually help bring a little more help towards getting atmosphere finished.

This is true, but when you go to the GitHub page and check whose been doing the work...its mostly SciresM. Now that doesn't mean someone isn't helping him behind the scenes or someone else could jump in somewhere in the future. Its just that he's the only one that appears to be actively working on it.

I do hope they don’t feel pressured to rush the release due to the exploit release. I think it’s important that Atmosphere is released when it’s ready to get maximum momentum from devs and users. Hopefully it’ll be as successful as the 3DS and Vita scenes. The Wii U scene slowly died for many reasons, but there never seemed to be much momentum at any point despite the best efforts of devs like Fix94.

It can be any. Recommend to use one with a 56k ohm resistor though which the official cable is known to have.
