How could he know? Maybe he's serious?

The 5.XX kex is a reality, and shared by a group of elitist people. We understand some of these elitists enjoy keeping the kexploit secret and torturing us from time to time with "teases" and "some screenshots". Just don't get mad when someone actually shares the exploit with the rest of us.

Regardless if that's fake or no - with the patch coming for iOS, and current PS4 firmware being 2 versions ahead of 5.05, I guess there's a good reason and enough of a distance to release the 5.05 kexploit. Of course, should the powers that be feel like it.

Gods know I'm in no rush, as there's a huge backlog of excellent games that are available, while only 4-5 (if even that much) are locked out for the time being, however I would like to see some actual homebrew and some advanced functionality. It's kind of sad that whenever I want to play a video file on my monitor I have to switch cables around. And some emulation and stuff would be pretty sweet - something along the lines of that fancy library you could have back on the 360 only with, hopefully, better emulators available :) . But it looks like the Switch is going to become a go-to console for emulation.

By the way, am I right in assuming devs don't have access to much of the PS4 functions? Backups can work because they basically trick the PS4 into thinking the signature is legit, but home-made code still wouldn't have access to 100% of the console's resources, maybe only some CPU instructions?

specter he wrote today

lol, what were 4.05 and 4.55 if not releases

And let's be honest, why devs are reluctant to release higher fw exploits is because all it does is bring more piracy

405 and 455 have been out for a while now and nobody has made or shown interest in homebrew lol

so it seems pointless to drop anything
admittedly there isn't a completely custom toolchain, but it's easy enough for people to get the SDK

yea he's the only one I've seen that seems even slightly interested in it

I'm one my PS4 Pro Firmware 5.05 bought from amazon.it.
I think there exists no PS4 Pro with firmware 4.55 on Amazon.
Too bad there won't no release a 5.05 exploit.
I bought only PS4 games.the other games we can download to PC.

405 and 455 have been out for a while now and people have been working on public save decryption, linux, manjaro which is a linux os, NES and Master System emulation, a theme editor, a pkg dumper, hxd, PS2 game injection

so it seems pointless to drop anything

Why there isn't more stuff is because sony forces people to update even to install games from the shop, if I was a homebrew developer I would not bother

no homebrew access on newer firmwares means no interest in homebrewing

you may disagree but that's what's happening here

As I have said before, piracy on the ps4 is a terrible argument for not releasing exploits, at this point you have to either spend a ton of money to own two systems, or cripple the one you own to pirate games that are over a year old, for the price of two new ps4 systems you could buy all the games you would be pirating, or build a gaming pc that can do so much more. End users can only use what is available to them, if there is no homebrew that is a dev issue, not the fault of the public.

Havent many devs made payloads similar or with added features to that of Specters, they simply had to wait for the information to be available to them the same way it was to him.

can you get into the PSN store on 5.01 ?

There is something I want to buy but I don't want to update in hopes of an exploit coming out
You can just login to the playstation store using your browser, and purchase from there. It'll be added to your account, waiting for you to download whenever we get spoofing up and running.

It's how I ensure I keep getting the PSplus free games while I'm disconnected from the internet (or traveling).

Unless Sony changes something in their store's API and older firmware versions won't connect to PSN even with spoofing. Then you're SOL.

I don't even know if you can still access PSN on 4.55. That firmware's from April 2017.
