Hacking And this is exactly why we need a true modchip.

I'm just happy that I don't have to run out and buy a switch today (have a running bet). Everything is going so fast though which is good.

Not necessarily. A physical mod chip can do anything a cooldboot cfw can, and theoretically could maybe do more if they put the necessary hardware in but I might be wrong on that.
I agree... I remember on the Xbox original the LCD screen addon for the chip...

It might even allow to flash nand and unbrick consoles. There's a lot of dead switches with bootloop problem and other nand related problems, TX chip might even help them revive the console if it has the ability of nand recovery, but no idea...

And like I said earlier it could bring a nand chip or another Micro SD adapter for keeping all data of emunand in one single micro SD and never have to remove it, then we use the M-SD port to keep changing SD's for game backups as SD's are overpriced and they just run out of space very fast.

ps: But this is just my speculation since no one have news of the TX chip yet...

I'm pretty sure that's what the cheaper diy open source modchip by Kate will do. I believe it will be an automatic pc-less version of the current exploit. Console powers on, modchip pushes console into RCM, modchip pushes exploit to usb c internally, and then when fusee gets sdmmc it will load payload from SD.

Yeah, but the thing is TX knows if their chip adds nothing new to the table, they will most likely lose quite a lot of money in case they have started the mass production. If they havent started the mass production yet, I think they would simply not even release it if they know it adds almost nothing new...

Maybe they can be working on their own CFW to be used only with their chip or some kind of backup loader exclusive for their chip that could lead to bricks without their chip, like GW did protecting their software from ppl using it on other cards...

I dont think so... I don't think their prices were always that much expensive.

Now Gateway flashcard, that was expensive, I paid quite a damn lot when it came out back then...

Actually, you should, fast. Because now this info is out, Nintendo will have to do a hardware revision. and given that it's already within 5.0 update data, that revision is very soon.

What we may see is someone produce a bootkit, so instead of having to open the console or use a pc we just plug a small dongle into the usb-c port which handles the payload.

We have still yet to see what the software solution will be. Does the method you think of require a USB A to C? They're cheap anyways and sounds easy ^^

Im think more of a little device with built in usb-c.

Something like those little usb drives you see with built in micro usb or back when the ps3 jailbreak dongles were a thing.

you would need to modify the bootrom for that to work in my understanding.. what is going to tell the usb stick to launch the set of instructions? hence again, the need for modchip

nope, because there is a bootrom bug. that's what fuse gelee is. So therefore no need for a modchip.

Quit your whinging. Every new console hack starts with a non-user-friendly hardware modification like this. By the time you can actually do anything meaningful with this exploit, there will likely be a software-only/console-only approach. If not, then shortly after.

did you not read my original first post? the title of this thread is "this is exactly why we need a modchip", fusee is tethered, and requires a pc to send the instruction set/payload

If you were referring to my comment, I didn't literally mean a standard usb flash drive, I was using them as a point of reference for what it would look like.

Think of a small SoC with a USB-C connector which can upload the payload, similar to what we saw with the PS3 jailbreak dongles.

Do people not realize that eventually FG will be a coldboot exploit?

It already is a coldoot exploit, it's a tethered coldboot. She has hinted that there is an untethered option, but we don't know what form that is in.

You may need to carry a usb dongle with you, or fit an internal board to deliver the payload. We can't assume right now that there will be a soft mod exploit that allows you to boot your switch straight into CFW, this is what I would call the holy grail which kate says FG isn't.

Not for xbox 360 that never moved on from a hardware exploit except once. Which is why I highly oppose against hardmods. Plus there is a software bug that is already usable. So really no need for tx, unless you want to dish a lot of cash.
