Homebrew Boot9strap and luma3ds

so I followed the guide and installed Boot9strap and Luma3ds but now what do I do how do I access the home brew. What does Boot9strap and Luma even do my 3ds still looks and feels the same as stock. Is there a certain button combination I need to press. What do I do now that that is done?

It should feel the same as stock. You don't have to press any button combinations. Once you've completed the guide, you can do whatever you want.

You should've installed the Homebrew Launcher CIA. If you didn't, then you didn't follow the guide to completion.

I actually did my first 3DS Soundhax + boot9strap hack via 3ds.hacks
followed all instructions to the letter, and all went well

I just feel like im not getting the most out of my 3DS

so far ive been downloading .cia files and installing them via FBI (is this the main reason people hack a 3DS?)

i am unsure if as of 2018 loading freestore is still a good idea vs downloading .cia files manually

Apart from that ive just been using FBI for games, and some nice new apps - such as FTPD

also am i able to continue to buy 3DS games and play them online?

or now that the 3DS is hacked, i should have street pass / nintendo store / all online features offline?

For instructions using freeShop see the OP of the Noob Paradise thread. You can play online fine and use every other feature of the 3DS. Just don't install any games that haven't been released yet and play them online, and don't cheat online.
