If you've been dissatisfied with the current state of Square Enix's Chrono Trigger PC port, it might be worth noting that the company plans to put out a few patches for the game in the next few months. Starting in April, the game will receive a patch that allows players to use the original SNES graphics, as opposed to the "remastered" option. Following that will be other additions and changes, which will be announced at a later date. Chrono Trigger is currently available on Steam for $14.99.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all of your feedback, patience and support so far.
We have been working on addressing the issues that you’ve raised, and will be releasing a number of patches over the coming months as we continue to support Chrono Trigger on Steam.

We’re aiming to release the first of these patches in the first half of April, and the biggest change is that it will include an option to switch between the current high-resolution graphics, and the original graphical style of Chrono Trigger.

We’ll post a full list of changes here when the first patch is released. For now, be assured that we’re working very hard on adjusting, updating and supporting Chrono Trigger on Steam.

As Chrono Trigger is going to receive patches over the coming months, we are going to extend the availability of the Limited Edition until:
5PM, April 30th BST / 9AM, April 30th PDT

Thanks again from all of us on the Chrono Trigger team.

Seriously who is paying $15 to play a 23 year old game?
Beats paying $100+ for an non-repo official SNES cartridge.

As to the news, meh. Easily one of the most disappointing ports of the game, even this patch won't make me likely to play it.

Hey, at least they're trying. It's something I guess? I wonder if they tossed the project at a new hire and asked them to do it in a week.

people are very dumb buying even from VC like
you can easily download an emulator and play, i'm not talking about piracy, i'm talking how nintendo is being smart making money with dumb people who will pay them to play those games again that you can easily play in your phone

nintendo is just fooling you guys to get your money, wake up please

Let's be honest, the only reason they are doing these patches in the first place is only due to public outcry. Am I glad the game's getting patched up? Yes, very much so. But given the severely negative feedback (and rightfully so), this is nothing but a fan service by SE to placate the people hating on it. Good game, garbage port. Get rid of that damn 72-point font GUI made for Hans Moleman as well and I may consider getting it.

Oh no, people want to buy a legit copy of the game on the VC instead of pirating it, heaven forbid. Anything but that. At least the VC version was functional and played like the original.
