Hi All, I'm new to the Xbox One and just want to confirm things before going forward to make sure I'm not missing something that I should have done.

I picked up a Xbox One Slim around Christmas (Discontinued 2TB Red Gears of War Edition) and have been sitting on it till I had time. The idea was to not use it to keep it at the lowest possible firmware, but it doesn't seem to work like that. I plugged it in today to get it setup and seems I can't set it up without a connection to Wi-Fi. I wanted to skip this to keep it from updating but looks like I have no choice, at least for the initial setup.

I've been reading what I can and it seems like my only approach is as follows:

A) Log into my Wi-Fi and set the console up
B) Activate Dev Mode
C) Side load available UWP emulators & programs (probably through Project Pegasus)
D) Disable Wi-Fi to stay on the lowest firmware
E) Wait for future exploits for additional console fun

Did I miss anything I should be doing? Or is this all there is to it for now?

That is basically it, yes. I enjoy playing retail games and I have an active Live/Gold membership, so I keep my console updated. Dev mode is nice and there are some fantastic homebrew apps available. I'm unaware if staying on a lower firmware/dashboard is currently the best method right now. I'm quite happy enough with dev mode.

Ok, great, will get it setup then...

It'll automatically update during the initial setup. Also, ProjectPegasus isn't necessary. All it does is download stuff from a Git repository (which is outdated). You still have to do the manual work. Just get what you want from here.
