They have tons to patch but regardless of what they fix/patch the system will remain hack able through NTRBoot and b9s. Both of which rely on a piece of software that can't be fixed so the 3DS could see a dozen new updates and it wouldn't change anything especially this late in the devices life since At this point a new hardware revision with a new bootrom is highly unlikely to show up.

A minute of pointlesness
I totally disagree. The software updates are meant to fix flaws in the software that could possibly lead to your game crashing randomly... corrupt saves... bricked devices.... and even optimization of the software to improve performance. All of these are very much welcome to me. The problem is many times these flaws are also the same flaws that homebrew users rely on to run there code.... however the 3ds with CFW can install these updates without issue and the hack used to load CFW can't be patched. So in short there really is plenty of reason to go ahead and install the updates despite the minor inconvenience.

Who told you such idiotic things? By "system stability" it refers to patching exploits. Just look at the change logs between versions and you will see that besides patching exploits there are almost no changes (if any) other than adding new stuff (eg: themes). Game crashes and corrupted saves are nonexistent unless your copy is bad (if pirated) or your SD card is malfunctioning. As for bricks, that's literally only possible if you mess around with the system in a way you aren't supposed to, so WHY would the even bother with that? Finally, there's no such thing as optimization on the 3DS, games are optimized individually and run the same on all supported firmwares.
