Hacking question regarding online and CFW PS3

Iv'e been reading that people are getting banned. Is there a way to decrease this from happening?

I figured maybe making a new PSN account and only using that account to run backups on multiman. But will that guarantee my main account won't get banned where I actually have all my purchases?

Yes there is a way to decrease not being banned.

If you want to be safe online without any way of being banned. I'd suggest just having a separate PS3 that has never been hacked before, and use your PS3 that's hacked to play backups so that way you can never be banned online.
But if you don't see that as a possible option...

PSNPatch & PS Ninja work great for not being instantly banned. PS Ninja is supposed to clear history or change write/read stuff to console, and PSNPatch is a spoofer that lets you connect to PSN.
I don't know how to use them (because I never have connected with them online.), but if you set everything to read only in PS Ninja and enable spoofing in PSNPatch you should be fine.

You can also unmod your PS3 to theoretically gain access to PSN without being banned on any account but I don't know how that would work out.

As far as your main account. If you delete it off your PS3 and basically never sign into it you should be fine.

Psnpatch plugin on cobra CFW. Any of the current stealth apps on other CFW PSNpatch is also a good option here.
