The biggest problem with this whole pointless idea, is #1 where the fuck are you going to put the 4K texture data, on the Xbox One X, my 1TB HDD is already filled with only 7 games, most 4K patches are around 100gb downloads, the Switch cartridges are not big enough, and microsd 256gb and larger cards are costly, and if you thinking of adding HDD to dock, there goes your empty space, in fact that is most likely what it was left there for, or the other fact there is big hole there, is big 'N' was cheap and removed the dock cooling fan! :)

Have seen 4K, but no 4K screens in the house. Either way, I rather the power go to the game than push for 4K. Good thing more games are giving you performance options.

I think a New Switch and a New Dock would simply be more appealing and beneficial than an add-on.

As I said before, I don't mind downloading textures as long as the base game is on the carts I buy.

Thank you for your thoughts! I just want to say that the community has been really excited when they heard "4k" Switch. I really think that they want to play on the Switch in 4k.

Really? Most I've seen was the possibility of this and why it would work. Also, they seemed really excited for this.
You've been told numerous times why it won't work without a complete hardware revision. But I guess I'll bullet point those reasons for you seemshow you somehow missed it
CPU is too weak, even with an upgraded external graphics you won't get 4k
File sizes too large, compression won't shrink enough to change that
Unless the USB c power port on the dock also has data transmission (which it likely doesn't), you cant have an addon that upgrades graphics. Usb 3.0 is not enough bandwidth and hdmi literally has no capability to communicate in any way that is required for a graphics addon

Frankly I am unwilling to keep digging through but those are some of the more important reasons why its currently unlikely it will happen any time soon with an addon. I don't say impossible (nothing really ever is) but I wouldn't count on it, especially not from nintendo. Imo at best you'll see the standard hardware revision in a couple years. Maybe an upgraded dock, but I still think the CPU won't be able to handle that.

Yeah, although it may or may not work, this post isn't about 4K working on the dock though. I'm just trying to let people know how this would work. I just really wanted to know (as I said before) if the community would look forward to the upgrade to buy. This is for some research I want to make to see if this might end up coming true.

Well, as far as I know, the way 4K gets downscaled onto your TV, it makes it appear like 4K. It is a very high notable difference. This is why Youtubers record and upload in 4K because the downscale really makes it look a lot better than it would be in the native resolution.

4K? I think the switch could use a 1080p add-on.
The Switch already outputs 1080p in docked mode. The screen is 720p so it would be pointless forcing it to be 1080p. Although BOTW outputs about 900p due to the fact that the Switch struggles to go higher so the 4k "addon" would greatly benefit it and would not just allow BOTW to play in true 1080p, it would allow it to possibly play in 4k and/or have major visual and performance improvements.

with a quadcore 1ghz cpu what kind of 4k did you expect from the swich? even if the dock had a state of the art gpu the switch still only has a 1ghz quadcore cpu ...

i can easily see nintendo making a lite switch without detachable joycons and abit smaller for full portable and cheaper without dock and such, but a 4k dock using a quadcore 1ghz cpu no way.

This is just an idea. I'm only asking if you think the community would want this and if you would want one too. This is for research purposes only to help predict any outcomes. Hopefully you would understand.

Just because a community wants it doesn't mean your idea in OP will magically work. Don't go around saying "I'm gathering community opinion", and then rejecting anyone who lists facts as to why it isn't feasible. Basically all you want is opinions of those who agree with you, which is biased.

Not exactly, I'm trying my best to avoid any comments saying why it wouldn't work with the Switch because of it being "too weak" or something which has nothing to do with this thread. The information I'm currently gathering is to see if the chances of getting at least a similar product to this are slim or high. This won't guarantee anything, but I am curious to see how this might work out.

I'm honestly not trying to be biased, but some bad habit I picked up because of how others end up treating you because you are wrong (and then continuously use it repeatedly to try to make their non-related arguments better). I hope to fix this issue soon, but in the meantime, I can't really do much about it since I won't dedicate much time towards getting rid of it.

Anyways, even after removing about 15-20 votes on it "not working" (I have a reason for this), it still is about more than %50 of all user's votes. I am now starting to see that this has a very low chance of appearing in the market. This might not stop Nintendo though and I think that people would love to see at least some performance and visual improvements (if it's good enough) as long as it's not out of their budget range. I had a good time reviewing all of these anyways and I gathered some pretty good intel as well from this.

I guess this is the end of this thread and I might as well close the poll. I hope I can better create information in the future that is much more simple so I can get more accurate results.
