Hardware Joy-con issue while in game-play

I haven't even had my Nintendo switch for a year and I am already having problems with the Joycons. when I am in a game in handheld mode I am constantly getting messages that say"press L+R on the controller" in have to reinsert the Joycons in order to keep playing and this can be maddening at times.
The controllers function fine when playing on the TV.

I believe the problem is a physical "flaw" within the Joycons when the Joycons come in and out of the console, the plastic part that holds them in gets worn down over time. (Some faster than others) Becuase the plastic pieces are worn down they can easily move slightly the in the rails. This causes the switch to think that they are out of the console and display the controller screen. This only happens to me when I use the pair of Joycons that came with the console(red and blue), not my other pair that I bought later

What tells me that it is not an internal problem with the Joycons is that they work fine when they are detached.

I am not the only person that has experienced this problem I found a thread on Nintendo support page that has literally dozens of people saying that the "same thing happened"

Has this happened to you? Have you found a fix?

perhaps your Joycons are "degrading at a slower rate...

I've had mine since launch with the same joycon. The plastic doesn't wear down for me. Never had this issue. The main cause of plastic wear from what I've read is putting the joycon straps on backwards.

you must not have gotten this issue yet your plastic might not be degrading much yet.

It hasn't degraded at all. I checked. I own three pairs of joycon and none of them have any sign of degradation after heavy use, especially the ones that came with the system. Probably because I take care of my system.

it really isn't easy to see I can just tell that they have degraded enough... and I don't really like you insinuating that I don't take care of my switch... you have no idea and right to judge on the topics i make threads on... you could have simply said I still haven't experienced it and not throw in "Probably because I take care of my system" but you did it anyway!

He never said or assumed you never took care of your Switch though, he was just saying that he takes care of his..

Not that hard to see if it's damaged or not, especially when they are taken apart (which I do for things like shell swapping). Absolutely no damage to mine. Have you (or someone else) ever put the straps on the incorrect way for your joycon?

Can you take pictures of your switch and joycon rails?

Its not the plastic.
It the bottom connectors. Sometimes they get dirty and dont make full contact.
I only had this happen once.
Took a qtip and clean the part.

Actually it mostly is because of putting the straps on backwards. That very quickly chips the plastic tab. Just a few times can cause the joycon to not even lock in anymore. I've never put my straps on the wrong way and constantly put the joycon on and off, and mine works exactly as they did when I first got them.
Another problem could be the contacts getting dirty, though I have yet to have that happen on mine. If that is the case should be easy to clean.

Probably the lock worn down some and its not staying click all the way down.
Try a different set of joycons.

the spring lock on my left joy con is chipped from me putting the controller in my pocket one time. i would check the lock near the top to see if it's chipped or not

That piece is so small and tucked away that I can't understand how it chipped in your pocket. I've had mine thrown inside a school bag and never had damage like that. Did you have something since in your pocket that could have caused that?

I haven't even had my Nintendo switch for a year and I am already having problems with the Joycons.

March 3 2017 - December 12 2017.... Impossible to have had it for a year when it hasn't even been 365 days since release.

Though I never had any problems with my system since day one, if you can try another set of joycons maybe it will help decide what the problem is.

It seems like an interference issue. It happens to me a a lot. Farther from the TV (console) and it gets worse.
