I am wondering if there is plugin that may help speed Mario kart 64 up, or a way to make it a lower resolution skip frames or something ... that's one of the main games my friends and I play and it sucks everytime I play it on here it crashes.

If I set NES ROMs to compressed, are they still playable with the stock emulator, or do I have to use RetroArch?

You can compress NES ROMs on the NESCE and they'll work with kachikachi. If you're talking about the SNESCE, you have to use Retroarch or dual boot.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

You may not have noticed this. But, hakchi2 has been already removing special characters automatically when adding files, externally, only though...if compressed. It also removed the characters from uncompressed additions. But, special characters inside the files are what cause conflicts in some on USB-HOST. We can probably arrive at a suitable solution to counteract this little nuisance.

Ideally, Cluster would revert the change that keeps the original filename and handle it like he used to, renaming the ROM to [TITLE_ID].sfrom. I wrote a slightly complex Linux script to do this, which is why I never even knew there was a problem. *laughs*

I'm getting my hakchi ready for christmas and found something odd. I got a notice like this..."Oops. It seems like (game) will not work correctly with the original emulator. Do you want to use a 3rd party emulator ?"

What does this mean exactly ? Will the game not run at all ?
1. Open hakchi2
2. Make sure you use the retroarch mod (if not: I don't think it's possible to solve, since it says that the original emulator can't handle it)
3. Drop one game with this problem in the program
4. "Do you want to use a 3rd party emulator ?" -> select no
5. Go to the command line of that game (inside hakchi2) and add the following at the very end: " --retroarch" (without the "", so starting with a space and two dashes)
6. Repeat steps 3-4-5 for each game with this problem (one at a time is most safe, so that you don't forget one)
This solved this problem for all three game who gave this error by me.

**UPDATE 12-4-17

Today is one truly Kickass Update:) ......./

Hey mate, I would like if you can post a 'how to use the atari800 core'. I have tried lots of XEX, A52, BIN, COM, ATR ... most of the time I get only the Atari 800 Memopad Screen. If a Game is loading, I have problems with the button-assignment. No Console Keys (Start, Select, Option) are mapped for XEGS or Atari 800 (XL/XE) Stuff. A readme for commandline parameters would be nice too.

Greetings.

I would recommend running the Core on 2.21e Debug in my Core Set. Given that, you go to controls, and select a joystick, and should be good to go on Atari 5200, etc. I had no trouble running games for Atari 5200 and 800 doing this. You also choose your System Type, and resume to load that one. 5200 should work fine for you once you choose a joystick and the system type.

Can anyone help me please, am I missing a step?

- flash original kernal
- flash madmonkey kernal
- open hakchi2 v2.21f
- go to add modual for genesis (It says I have to first dump the kernal)
- it gets to the end of the dump then errors out.

Am I doing something wrong?

Quick question, when you run TG16CD games, does it reset every time you go to the retroarch menu?

Hi! Question. Is there a way to have the rewind feature on nes mini just like snes? (no retroarch, kachikachi only).

I'm running USB-Host on NESC and all NES games using kachikachi play in black & white. I uninstalled, reflashed stock and went through the USB-Host install process again and I'm still getting the same issue. Is there any current fix for this, or am I doing something wrong?

nobody knows ?
I've seen you ask questions way back, you should just wait to plug your SNes classic and try things out yourself before reading any of the thread, I saw you very confused about pre official hakchi steps that are not revelant now...

I mean no disrespect but using hakchi is pretty straight forward. If you cannot use the bundled emulator you just install snes9x from the extra module options and the incompatible rom will run off of that. Asking all these questions in preparation to installing hakchi and hacking your snes classic isn't such a bad idea but do not try to learn befofre actually doing it. start off slow when you have everything ready, flashing the kernel, getting roms on it, building folders, then using new cores and such... there is literally no risk of bricking your snes classic if you follow the basics.
Dump kernel
flash custom kernel
add roms
install few modules (extra space, snes9x, retroarch, save state compression... etc)
create folders if needed (through the built in option of hakchi)

If you have any questions I can write a noob proof guide without technical stuff and all. You are not the only one who seem to be confused.

Hey guys I'm wondering does anyone know where Hakchi gets their roms from for the snes classic? or what are some common rom websites for the SNES classic?
You search for your own roms, nobody,s providing "snes classic" roms, they're snes roms, period. You will find snes roms pretty easily with google... I mean, it,s impossible not to find roms.

There are tons of tutorials on using hakchi on nes classic and snes classic on youtube, a quick search will get your answers.

Today's Core Update:) UPDATE 12-5-17

Fulfilling a few requests today:) First, it has been brought to my attention that GBA Emulation, in general, has not been "fast" enough on the NESC/SNESC. I bring to you, today, a NEW GBA Core, gpsp (command line /bin/gba OR /bin/gpsp , which in preliminary testing, runs quite nicely! Check it out! Those of you who download bin+cue, and find the oddity of them being in ECM Files, I included in my Ripping Tools Section, the ability to UNECM the files, per normal! Simply drag the ECM file onto UNECM and it will automatically convert to Bin! I will continue to include more of my personal Ripping Tools, as well as do Videos on how to use them. System 32 Games were broken with other Sega Updates. I included the last working System 32 MAME 2003 Variant in Extras & Dependencies Folder. Otherwise, I updated NP2kai (General Fixes; Thanks Tomohiro Yoshidomi & AZO234 & SpiralCut & r-type!), Mr.Boom (Source Removing; Thanks frranck!) , MAME 2010 (Sound & Improvements for Denjin Makai; Thanks wonder199999 & twinaphex!), and FBA 2016 (Attempt to Fix Gunbird 2 from Freezing; Thanks sergiobenrocha2 & barbudreadmon!) Enjoy Today's Update!!!

Remove this line from mod\hakchi\rootfs\etc\preinit.d\p0000_config:

cfg_nes_extra_args='--ppu-palette 2'

Unfortunately, no - it's a feature of Canoe.

This worked perfectly, thank you!

Has anyone had any luck using folders with USB-Host on NESC? Any time I try to use folders it will hang on splash screen at boot.

I just uploaded the latest version of my canoe save state compression mod here.

This version provides faster compression and also has a script to decompress saves. The decompress script must be run manually although I imagine that most users will never need to run it. I will update the readme later on to include instructions on how to use the decompress script.
