Seems like PCB version agb-e11-01 can work as a drop in replacement for any gba game that ram on sram battery saves. To do so I swapped the roms from the two different games. in this case I swapped megaman battle network 1's rom onto the pcb and it worked perfectly.
Thats really it!

Data retention is roughly up to 10 years before you got to replace it agian.
Not really, it means how often the data must be rewritten to ensure it will stay readable... the biggest downside of FRAM conversion (not that I've seen anyone complain about it yet) is that FRAM has a relatively limited amount of write cycles compared to infinitely reusable SRAM, which for this reason may be used in games that save very often or outright use it as memory expansion...

Solder points? Peel/roll off the tabs from the original battery, tape in place a spare, fit the cover back on, solderless replacement :)

(I wonder why OP didn't remove the battery and swap the save chips instead of the roms, though)

Because he replaced the use of the SRAM chip with the FRAM chip. He did it by moving the FRAM and ROM to a new board. Which requires soldering. His whole point was to ditch the battery.

He basically bought something like this: https://www.semiconductorstore.com/cart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=66997
To replace the SRAM for his Megaman game.

Megaman Battle Network 4-6 already uses a FRAM chip, so the swap of the ROM chip would work for him.

You could have just swapped out the ROMS instead of putting a new FRAM in.

Megaman Battle Network 2 uses the AGB-E06-10 board, which has the battery and SRAM chip.
