Hey guys, my new console is being delivered friday! I am sure this will ship on 11.4 or newer. I would like to hack it. What would be the preferred cart to do this with? I am aware I will have to do the NTRBoot method, which I have never done before, so would like a simple as possible for my first try, being a new console and all. Thanks

http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=574 simplest probably
http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=575 a better card all around but you have to open up the shell to switch between ntrboot and ds modes.

Opening up the cart isn't an issue as will only need to be done maybe twice. I had seen this one but seems a bit more pricey and unsure what the difference is for the price? http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=575
Sorry I linked the wrong thing. Basically, the r4iGold+ allows you to switch modes easily although the r4i-b9s the switch can be done in software after you hack your 3ds. You can run that cards flasher (on their site: r4i-sdhc.com) to switch it to nds mode and back. It's a little more work than the r4iGold I think but it saves you $4.

If playing DS games is important to you I would recommend the r4igold+ as it runs a much superior kernel, WoodR4.

Is there any reason why the .nds does not even launch?

Ace3DS X and R4i Gold 3DS Plus are good choices if you want a good cart. This cart (r4isdhc.com) is a good choice if you are just looking for a cheap piece of shit that will work for ntrboot.

I had this cart lying around from a few years back so thought it's worth seeing if it worked before purchasing. I have ordered the R4i Gold 3DS Plus now though :)

I know OP already ordered a cart, but I just want to mention for anyone else reading this thread in the market for a ntrboot flashcart that the r4ids.cn R4i Gold 3DS is still not a bad choice despite them releasing an R4i Gold Plus cart that has ntrboot built in.
Installing ntrboot onto an original R4i Gold 3DS is still really easy, and you don't have to open up the cart at any point, which would actually be preferrable to me for a one time thing over a cart I would have to open, flip the switch, close it back up, install B9S, rinse and repeat.
The price is about the same, so I guess it's up to personal preference.
the 2012 and 2013 r4isdc.com carts run wood

they switched to the r4 firmware in 2014 so they could add in timebombs since nintendo stopped blocking flashcarts
That looks like an r4i-gold.com cart, not r4isdhc.com.

The R4i Gold Plus is 100% Gold compatible. You can also software flash the Gold Plus.

most likely a clone of each other, especially since it's a year cart

Thanks for all your input guys. Just to confirm. The 2013 cart I have is not compatible with the ntrboot and only 2014 onwards are?
