I'm curious, how are people so confident in seeing more exploits for newer firmware? I mean, see, I always have this niggling feeling that Nintendo will make it super hard to find an exploit in newer firmware. I don't want to by another Switch, I don't want to be limited to 3.0.0, so I updated to 4.0.2 last week. Ugh.
It might be harder, yeah, but who's not to say they fucked up with a hardware design like they did with the 3DS?
No system is safe of exploits, and I doubt the Switch will be 100% exploit safe in post 3.0 updates.

As a promise to our Patreon backers, if the Switch wins in that poll (and by all accounts it's looking like it), we will go through the effort of buying a Switch (at firmware 3.0.0) and trying to ride that early wave. Sure, the audience will be niche, but then that has never stopped us from providing support for all the other platforms, and I see this as a nice gesture towards our userbase that has supported us this past year.

Also, I hope those comments I made about Daeken do not come off as me disparaging him or whatever. Maybe it does come across like that, and I want no problems with the guy, so I'd like to state I harbor no ill will towards him, and we'd very much appreciate him coming to our channels again. Everybody is free to work on whatever they are interested in, of course, and this PSX dynarec thing might have been a pet project for him back then. So hopefully those comments were not taken the wrong way. As for that PSX dynarec, progress on it is slow, we have a bounty open it and a guy is still persevering with it. We might get further along though if that guy had the ability to talk with more devs on his struggles so far.

Thank you taking an early stab at it. It really is appreciated. :)

EDIT: will you be taking it on yourself or handing it to someone else?

Nah, I think your comments are understandable. For what it's worth, I fell into quite a nasty depression which ended up shutting down basically everything I worked on for a solid 6 months or so -- after I got out of that, the dynarec work just wasn't a priority anymore, sadly. One day I hope to go back to work on my Tarogen stuff, but I haven't wanted to put any timeframes on that, for obvious reasons.

Hi there, glad to hear you didn't take it as being particularly negative. Understandable considering what you were going through. Mental health always comes first.

Denu8thell (a Github user) is currently trying to make a dynarec for Beetle PSX to fulfill the bounty - he is reusing PPSSSP's dynarec code and transplanting it to Beetle PSX. He is running into some issues though. https://github.com/Denu8thell/beetle-psx-libretro/commits/jit_impl

Well the vote is over and the switch won with a massive majority (87% to 13% with 148 Votes) :)

Alright, Switch won. We will buy a 3.0.0 Switch from Thomas SchiAuchI (from World of Longplays), that way we will be early to the party when jailbroken Switch becomes public.

So it begins :) Good luck to all.
