Miiverse has shut down

Nintendo has pulled the plug on Miiverse, tonight. The service ran 5 years, letting users on the 3DS and Wii U draw pictures and share screenshots online. Users, and even Nintendo staff took a moment to say their farewells to the short-lived community. It even trended on social media for a brief moment, as people posted their favorite images, silly posts, and artwork. Trying to access Miiverse will now result in an error code on Nintendo consoles.

Unless Nintendo updates the game, allowing players to upload, play and comment on a proprietary online service for Mario Maker.
SMM, like every other Wii U game, uses Nintendo Network. The only Miiverse-tied features are commenting on levels. You will still be able to upload levels through NN

Hm, I do wonder what Nintendo will do about commenting though.

The only things I'll miss from the miiverse will be the miiverse stage in smash, tingle bottles in Wind Waker, and the occasional communist post in Splatoon. Besides that it's not so bad.

Would anyone really miss this, though?
It seemed to be a haven for the ultra cringe messages like "this game beats me as bad as mommy does" showing up in splatoon multiplayer, to "why can't metroid crawl?"

The level of horrible just far outweighed whatever possible benefit it ever had.

Did you really need to clarify it was made with Sony Vegas Pro 10?
He's just tryna show off his tech.

He also edited with a high end PC and a High End Graphics card, equiped with a 20 terabyte SSD, and a High End Oled display. His toilet paper is made of 100 dollar bills and he's editing his vids on a 1 million dollar yacht.

Actually worth talking about here is that some ArchiveTeam members made a grab of Miiverse. If any baguettes could translate this article that'd be lovely: http://www.lemonde.fr/pixels/articl...cial-unique-en-son-genre_5212061_4408996.html .

WARCs are available under Drastic Actions account and some others if anyone wants to know.

Anyway, sad to see it go. Never used it but it did influence the Nintendo fandom-culture quite a bit. RIP Miiverse, you will likely not be missed by many, but your cultural influence was seriously there.
