I have one lying on my table in my living room... but i am afraid that the battery will die... i ve not used my switch for 1 month now ^^ .

what should i do if i want to use the Switch?
Is it sure that the battery is dead?
Is there an easy fix for it if the battery is dead or not working correctly?
Would be great if someone could help me :) !:switch:

1. Have you tried charging? (you know, logical thing to do with any device)
2. Why should it be dead? It might be drained, but not dead.

3.0.0 has a known battery issue where you need to charge it several times in a row if it drains to a certain point. They fixed it in 3.0.1 (along with patching up one of their biggest exploits on 3.0.0). If you go here and click the down arrow from "Information on Previous Versions:", you'll see:

Improvements Included in Version 3.0.1 (Distributed 7/31/2017)
General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience, including:

  • Addressed an issue in which the remaining battery charge can't be displayed accurately
    • If the system's battery power display suddenly increases or decreases, it will gradually improve by following these steps.
What you need to do, is charge it a bunch of times until it says 100%, then package it up in its original box and put it in a drawer until the times comes (probably after Christmas, some time in 2018, when good stuff will probably come out). Then you can use it on 3.0.0. Or, if you want to use it now, get some launch title game cartridges/games that require <3.0.0, like Zelda BotW, MK8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2.

The battery will be fine. They're left on store shelves for months on end. It's fine. They'll drain about 1-2% a month. Just make sure you turn it off, not put it in sleep mode (i.e hold the power button down until power options show up, instead of a short press of the power button). Otherwise it won't last a week.

Fear not, my friend. Haven't used it for a month too. It's draining very slow but it is not dead. I recharge it and it's working fine. :)

I mean why not just turn it on and off and charge it from time to time. Li ion batteries are not great at going unused for long periods.

No. It is not a good idea but it is up to you. Partial and random charge is fine; and of course; keep battery cool.

Like what does every one says different things ?

How do you store your switch ? You mean this:

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...sd_cards_in_your_switch_for_limitless_storage
oh well i have not meant store like Microsd cards i ve ment to keep the switch unused ^^ like to not use it and put it anywhere in a shelf and let it lie there for months...
dam i am sorry my english is roasted as hell...

and i wanted to ask you if u dont charge it or do you?
edit:
And i ve meant that some people say that the switch needs to get charged constently and some say that it should not be charged if it s not used... i ve also read about it thats not good for batterys if they get charged too often ^^

I understand.

I dont charge it again after it is 100 percent and leave in the store after a month now. When I check it in few months and if it is 80 percent then leave it alone for other few months then check it again. Until it is about 50 percent then charge it. :)

I found that information:

  • Do not fully charge or fully discharge your device’s battery — charge it to around 50%. If you store a device when its battery is fully discharged, the battery could fall into a deep discharge state, which renders it incapable of holding a charge. Conversely, if you store it fully charged for an extended period of time, the battery may lose some capacity, leading to shorter battery life.
  • Power down the device to avoid additional battery use.
  • Place your device in a cool, moisture-free environment that’s less than 90° F (32° C).
  • If you plan to store your device for longer than six months, charge it to 50% every six months.
Remember, it is lithium battery after all.

Hope it helps. :)

What Bernhard..

Please check to make sure that it is fully turn off, weatMod.. to be safe. Here:

  1. To display the Power Menu on Nintendo Switch, press and hold the POWER Button for at least three seconds.
  2. Select "Power Options," then choose to either turn off, restart, or set the console to Sleep Mode. Important: ...
  3. To exit the Power Menu, press the B Button or the HOME Button. Settings.
