Well I tried it myself with Time and Gaia and I will be damned you are right. But how do you explain that the unpatched version of the US Super Metroid showed the region incompatibility message on my EU SNES if as you say there is no difference between EU and US SNES?

use a region unlock ips patch.

my german pal version of illusion of time and terranigma is patchted to ntsc and work with retroarch without problems.
all my german version are patched to work with the mini snes

I dont udnderstand.

Is there a reason why updated Hackchi2 is flagged by Windows Defender Smart Screen? I didn't seem to have that issue with earlier versions.

It can by bypassed by choosing 'more info" but it is kinda of an annoying extra step... Run as "Admin " doesn't seem to bypass the warning either.

With Super Double Dragon, its listed as having problems in the google document

It says

"Hangs after mode select screen (Hakchi 2.21b, no-intro.org rom) http://datomatic.no-intro.org/?page=show_record&s=49&n=2636"

Does this mean the rom from datomatic is the problem and a normal rom will work?

I just tried on my console to delete the game and to install it again since I had it installed with version 2.20 and I get the same error. There is something in the 2.21 that applies to the rom

Can you reproduce this with a fresh No-intro US rom, and show us on youtube?

strange then it should work.
ther eis only the way to make a undlock patch over it.

on the original kernel (around 5 different) should it be not because its a costum kernel on it.

the problem is there are tons of different roms

strange works fine with standard emu on the mini nes and hakchi 2.21b

Ilusion of time PAL version with retroarch added with Hackchi 2.20 works
Ilusion of time PAL version with retroarch added with Hackchi 2.21 dont works.

Now you have to know what you add to the rom so this happens

I want to play the game like sale on my country and dont patch every game like this problems on Retroarch.

The system itself should not patch these games are to be used with retroarch

when you want to play pal games then you must patch it to ntsc because the console is for ntsc emulation and not pal!
and what is on a patch now so difficult?
it changes only 50 to 60hz and not the game content.

that has nothing to do with retroarch!
the system standard emulation is only for ntsc emulation

Super Metroid USA and JAP are same roms.

was wiiubreaker not the user that has problems with supermetroid hack metroid legacy and redesign?
the problem was that the hack use the us super metroid rom but the hacks aktivate a region lock from pal and that must be patched off

Oh well, after a bit of digging with a hex editor, I think I can answer my question myself. The ROM in question is billed on the internet as Super Metroid (JU) [!].smc, which it seems is a ROM dumped from a japanese cartridge, despite having english text. That may be the reason why US SNES minis refuse to run it. At offset 7FD9 the byte for the region is located and it says 00:

00 is Japan and 01 is USA. For now it seems my theory about the SNES minis having region differences in their OS is false. I'll edit the misinformation in this thread to not confuse people.

My original post was a bit long and I didn't have time to stay on and reply back and forth that night so I'll try this again and shorter this time!

- I am not that tech savvy. IDK how I even pulled off the NES Classic modding.

- I already have the very old Hakchi2 version 2.11 on my PC and it only has NES games for my NES Classic. I don't use Retroarch and don't want to.

- I want to mod my SNES Classic with just SNES games only (with no Retroarch) so here's my question:

Can I download the new Hakchi for SNES Classic to another location on my computer, like my D drive? (NES Hakchi is on desktop) and use both programs separately?

If not, please bear with me that I am new to this but am simply a fan and want to mod my SNES. I already have the ROMS ready to go, I'm just concerned about the two Hakchi programs and don't know how to merge them or start over if that's the case.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

pal working not correct with the mini snes because it only emulates ntsc!

and illusion of time works with every hakchi sinse 2.20!
