(sandisk 128 80/mbs 533x ... the vita doesn't even use that much speed let alone 100/mbs (200gb sandisk verses 200gb PNY may work, you'll have to risk it until more people test it out, and, more specifically identify the model number/type)... we really need a full compatibility list for Micro SD card, and noone seems to be reporting their own brand specific encounters.................higher than 128 gig Micro SD compatibility requires the newer sd2micro 3.0 adaptors? If so, you should be clear about that, because you'll burn a lot of people that don't know................I suspect a number of brands don't work, also some specific transfer tweaked by Manufacturer cards, over 128 gig, that's probably more significant) (long story short, nobody seems to care, the hdd compatibility lists for ps2/xbox1 sprung up over night, and there still hosted, this just goes to show you what people prefer right now, and that is probably online gaming or retro stuff, with no inbetween............buy, test, return, from department store? If works, return the item and buy a cheaper one from ebay, maybe get away with testing just two or three brands)

@yeshuachrist What are you talking about? Just because the vita doesn't write/read at the cards maximum capacity doesn't mean it will not work, the vita will simply write/read at it's normal speed.

You DON'T need those "3.0 adapters" to use a 128GB mSD or higher don't know where you got that from neither.

There is no need for a "compatibility list", as long as you habe a legit non defective memory card and a working sd2vita you'll have no issues, you are just fear mongering for no reason...

been using a 256gb for weeks with the 3g modem adapter and it's working great

(reports are all over the place for the vita with "google" and the Micro SD adaptors..................in the automated installation of mlthaku, it is suggested to use a package called "SDfiles" into the root of the memory card, but this is completely unnecessary, the vita will populate those figures..............however...............the pc does generally write into the boot sector/boot partition when adding/removing files.................so in a round about way "SDfiles" having the pc write those into the Micro SD instead of having the vita populate those datas, is an attempt at a compatibility fix for incompatible Micro SD cards)

(experienced no problems with the micro sd card i've mentioned, and the vita populated those figures fine, using the write blank file method to format the micro sd. using the same the method via "google", many users report compatibility issues, some minor, but virtually no one is stating their brands used, generic or otherwise...................you said it................."there's no need for a compatibility list" (now the people that believe, are simply not reporting anything) (oh well, if one store sells more then one brand you should be ok)

If we're talking PC card readers her and not any possible peculiarities with SD2Vita, then:

The SDHC standard covers cards from 4GB-32GB (there were some 2GB SDHC but weren't as common as SD).
The SDXC standard covers 64GB to 2TB. If a USB to SD adaptor supports the SDXC standard then it can handle that range of sizes (and of course backards compatibility with SDHC/SD). https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/choices/file_system/index.html

I have never heard of card readers specifically having issues with 128GB and above unless they are just a cheap POS. Even devices that technically only support SDHC can often handle larger sizes as long as the card is formatted FAT32 (the SDHC standard) not eXFAT (the SDXC standard).

In regards to sd2vita specifically: It requires a non-fake microsd (do not buy from ebay/ali etc) that has been formatted using the well documented method.
Most people having issues is due to fake cards, early sd2vita versions not consistently making good contact with the vita card connector, incorrectly configured plugins etc. Not a reasonable brand microsd from a good supplier being incompatible.

Mentioning the original Xbox is a little extreme given its complications with locking/unlockling of drives. Once modded with a BIOS supporting LBA48 life is much easier of course, I've got one with a 400GB PATA and another with a 2TB SATA via a cheapo no-name adaptor.
PS2 HDD was locked down by sony for their official support, but again homebrew drivers allow pretty much any drive that fits to run including via sata/pata adaptors. FHDB is a wonderful thing. Best to avoid the aftermarket network adaptors in general though.

On an unrelated note; may I ask what's up with the brackets?

@yeshuachrist Google is plagged with all kind of crap, you'll find fake and inaccurate information in every topic you can think of, wether people create this on purpose to mislead or not... Maybe you should start taking things with a grain of salt instead of further spreading misinformation and simply saying "Google is full of reports" as a source...

I bought the sandisk 200gb microSD card (https://goo.gl/XrPkas) and I copied everything (hidden folder included) from my 128gb Samsung microSD card over. That's 118gb worth of data and it shows 65.7/183gb free after that. I put the sandisk 200gb microSD into my SD2Vita, open up vitashell and it shows 17gb left! What is happening?!

Edit: Found this post (https://gbatemp.net/threads/weird-sd2vita-issue.481022/). Will try formatting with 64kb cluster and report back.

Ok it's now showing the correct amount of space left!
