Just thinking out loud here but if there was a way to disable the attract demos and rewind feature on the OG games we would safely be able to add quite a few more games without the risk of memory running out if we play the 21 games. This would require a custom image? Or think this is something that could be done in hakchi, like a off switch? I know I'm not being technical, but I'm sure you guys see what I'm getting at.

Anyone with more intelligence than me feel free to tell me if this might be possible or not . Would be awesome to figure out if this would be worth it or not because in its current state I sense potential memory/functionality problems if someone puts in a few too many roms

Thanks, I haven't tried it yet and I wanted to know what Hakchi2 does first of all.

@Sappoide Thanks to you, too!

EDIT: Does anybody know how many SNES games you can add normally without doing weird things like skipping artwork or double-compressing?

Depends on the size, I have 100 games on it including the built ins and no issues here...you can probably fit more but I dont wanna run into memory issues due to saves.

My genesis plus gx core works flawlessly. It can even run Sega CD. You are most likely configuring the command line wrong.
If you add cluster's Genesis core and add Genesis games won't they launch automatically without having to alter the command line? That's how it's always been for me, at least with the NES Classic.

i think 100-130 snes games should be possible

i have 21 original snes, 55added snes, 34 nes, 6 GameBoy, 10 Gameboy Advanced on my mini snes and i has 200mb used

and how musst be the command line? --retroarch is not usefull

Note to all, if you use the Official 2010 SNES 9x that Cluster posted, you can use --retroarch at the end of a command line argument, to load into 9x. I will modify my Cores, accordingly, to work with the --retroarch command, as well. Expect them to be working within next update.

Example:

/bin/clover-canoe-shvc-wr -rom /usr/share/games/CLV-U-XFJBY/Rock_n__Roll_Racing_(USA).sfrom.7z --volume 100 -rollback-snapshot-period 600 --retroarch
Isn't 2005 SNES 9x a better emulator to use? (Generally speaking of course)

Snes9x 2005 is based off of 1.43, Snes9x 2010 is based off of 1.52. Version 1.52 has a much superior audio core (and plays Earthworm Jim 2 properly), but 2005 runs faster on weaker hardware.

i found the solution!
mega drive/sega genesis game must be *.gen and not *.bin.

hakchi show then when you insert the game the modul and not the page with a gear an genplus finds the games

So in your opinion, which core would be more beneficial for SNES mini, 2005 or 2010?

MD is the most common format, though. How do you convert them?

It's very close to 2010 in terms of accuracy, the 2005 would be too jarring of a difference. Stick with 2010.

Many people where stating Rock 'n Roll racing will not run without modifications. Well mine does...

Anyone that has a working Sensible Soccer? Getting a black screen with that game and a C7 error after pressing reset.

my mega drive games are all *.bin and genesis on pspand wii are has play it withoud problems.
convert? nothing only renamed to *.gen.
*.md works too with the genesis core

Is that for both cores?
only genesis core

Aren't there 2 Genesis cores included?

Quick RetroArch question for anyone to answer.

I have a modded NES Classic. I installed RetroArch as a game as I like to access it that way as well as (Select & Start) while playing a game. Anyhow, I found with my tv, if I changed the aspect ratio in RetroArch to 30:17 it filled my entire screen with no distortion with all cores that I run on the console (MAME, NEO GEO, NES, TurboGrafx, and Genesis)

I installed RetroArch as a game on the SNES Classic the same way I did on the NES Classic, went into RetroArch->video->aspect ratio and changed it to 30:17 expecting the same result. However these border frames that come with the SNES Classic are on all the games that I run. I'm only putting SNES games on the console. Even the couple of games that I have retroarch and SNES9x running (SF II Alpha) it doesn't fit the entire screen either. It's just black on both sides of the screen even though the settings in aspect ratio are set to 30:17.

Perhaps it's a CANOE emulator problem that won't allow full screen (30:17) ratio?

Any suggestions to get it to fill the entire screen?
Thanks,

I'm gonna take Clusters words about this for Hakchi2's over everyone else because of obvious reasons but I'm still seeing quite a bit of other people say that even getting the old Kernel and deleting the games that didn't come with the system and then factory restoring the system like new... Nintendo could still figure out the system Kernel was messed with and such...can't say I'm not nervous if something we're to happen that I needed Nintendo to repair it....

Just pray you never have to send it their way.

Okay good, I didn't want to use a weird format conversion tool :P

I made two sets of SNES Cores for the SNES Classic, here is the readme from my current Update, that I will post shortly...

Important Notes:

**UNINSTALL OLD Cores before Installing NEW ones! I would suggest deleting all OLD Cores, then copying these ones to USER_MODS folder!
videos to help those new to the whole Hakchi/RetroArch scenario, better understand!

**Use the respective RetroArch version designated below, for NESC/SNESC (I will be updating these on a regular basis!)

_km_retroarch_standard_nesc_10_7_17 for NES Classic!
_km_retroarch_standard_snesc_10_7_17 for SNES Classic!

Things get slightly complicated with NESC/SNESC RetroArchs. I am using the tried and true method of separating the coding on each, to make
things more organized. So, install the one for NESC or SNESC, accordingly, and you will be fine!

Some Cores are designated for use with ONLY NESC or SNESC. Hence, NESC Filter Hack will not work on SNESC.

**There are 2 Sets of SNES9X Cores for Standard & No Saves. The ones with --retroarch can only be installed one at a time, and are meant
only for CANOE Roms!! The ones with no NESC/SNESC designation can be installed 1-2-3 at a time, and command lined, accordingly, and only
work with standard SNES roms, like the ones previously used on the NESC:) You can call out SNES9X usage, by applying --retroarch at the
end of the command line for these above mentioned CANOE Roms!

Example Command line:

/bin/clover-canoe-shvc-wr -rom /usr/share/games/CLV-U-XFJBY/Rock_n__Roll_Racing_(USA).sfrom.7z --volume 100 -rollback-snapshot-period 600 --retroarch

And, for the Standard SNES roms, an example would be:

/bin/snes /usr/share/games/CLV-Z-SQUJF/Rock_n__Roll_Racing_(USA).7z OR

/bin/snes05 /usr/share/games/CLV-Z-SQUJF/Rock_n__Roll_Racing_(USA).7z OR

/bin/snes10 /usr/share/games/CLV-Z-SQUJF/Rock_n__Roll_Racing_(USA).7z

The distinctions between 05/10 in command line, allow dual/tri-usage of SNES9X Cores with Standard SNES roms!

I will be updating the RetroArch Modules, accordingly, to reflect specific changes within the SNES Classic Environment:)
And, of course, I will do videos on many things, to make things easier to understand for all of you guys & gals!!!

Cool story poe...

I don't see Nintendo go all in and play Sherlock on a 80 Euro/Dollar device that cost them just max 25 to 35 dollar max to produce.

This hardware is not running hot, so I do not expect it to break easily anyways. If you get nervous over the idea already... DO NOT MOD/HACK ANY SYSTEM EVER!

I softmodded my PSP's, Xbox Classic, PS3, Vita, VitaTV, Wii, WiiU and so on and never had that thought. More like a 'we will see what happens and IF it needs to go back for repair it also might just go through'. Nothing did ever break down in all these years.

It is all in the game. If you can't take the heat...
