There's no buttons (that I could see), doesn't say it plays 3DS games and it says it uses Wood so probably not. It was my first thought too though!

I think it could actually be a Gateway clone and using a physical switch to switch between the modes. The most likely put it on the side so users couldn't purposefully/accidentally switch it during gameplay.
Although that is a huge guess on my end and it could just be a switch to make it work for NTRBoot.
