I am just going to wait for there to be an official release of Hakchi/snes aka Hakchi 2

Same here, I don't trust the lack of a tutorial or compiled program from source. I don't want to end up bricking it.

I don't have the know how or patience to do build it, unfortunately, I'd just as soon wait for someone to compile for those who want to use it. There really should
be a tutorial. It can't be that hard to write a tutorial right?

If you need a tutorial, better wait for official release of Hakchi2 with SNES Mini support.

You'll need to make some changes to '/etc/preinit.d/b0000_defines'. Change the gamepath to '/usr/share/games', copy the games from '/usr/share/games' to '/var/lib/hakchi/rootfs/usr/share/games' and reboot your SNES Mini.
This will fix overmounting of /usr/share/games (while keeping original games), and you'll be able to write there. After that just FTP your files so the injected folders look like this:

Well, anyone can. Just add the header/footer to ROM and edit .desktop and .png ;)

It's easier to use Cluster's clovershell, just use Hakchi2 to dump the original kernel and flash the custom kernel. You'll instantly get access to FTP and Telnet after that. Easy-peasy.

Have you tested flashing back the original kernel or alternatively is there any reason that wouldn’t work using the current version?

this isnt your job but couldnt you add games then make a back up and offer that to people to flash,i'm guessing we would still need to do work to get a flashed system first but i think you know what i mean.

No, I haven't tried it (no reason to do this), but it should work just fine. It's the same hardware, after all.

First of all, this is simply illegal. And it's pretty dangerous. Full NAND backup/restore CAN result in brick.

How are the save states working, do they work at all and are they bigger now since it records 1 min of gameplay?

Savestates are working just fine, rewinding works too. Out-of-the-box.
Every injected ROM that runs at all works just as original game.

As for filesizes... see for yourself:

That's what I was afraid of. Sorry I asked.

Sorry, I just don't see a reason to write any tutorials since they'll be obsolete after the very first SNES Mini-compatible update of hakchi2

@pcm720 can you sent me a pm how to make snes roms to sfrom?

Well, just use this post as a reference.
Here's the header I used for Super Mario World inject:
Code:
0x00000: 00 01 00 00 60 00 08 00 30 00 00 00 30 00 08 00
0x00010: 30 00 08 00 30 00 08 00 60 00 08 00 00 00 00 00
0x00020: 4B 00 08 00 57 55 50 2D 4A 41 41 45 00 00 00 00
[SMC ROM dump]
0x80030: 3C 00 00 08 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 11 10 02
0x80040: 91 14 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 01
0x80050: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Also, can Cluster (or whom-ever else) add to the original NES hakchi, the ability to use the SNES Mini Controllers with the NES Mini?

Because I wanted to try just one game, Chrono Trigger, I don't know when the Haxchi update will be, is that such a bad thing to ask? But whatevs, I won't bother you about it.

This may be a dumb question, but with the format change from .smc to .srom apparently required, and I understand that the roms need a new header, but
This reminds me vaguely of the Sega genesis emulator developed for the Dreamcast, where the genesis Roma had to be renamed to work right,
Has anyone tried renaming a file, example "SuperMarioAll-Stars(USA).smc" to "SuperMarioAll-Stars(USA).srom" to see what would happen?
Again, sorry if this is a dumb question.

i'm with random here,it might be awhile for the cluster proggie and some of us only want a game or 2,you'd be doing everyone a big favor, and it might help cluster also

No, it's fine, my asking is only stressing him out, I've done enough damage for one day, I'm taking a break for a few hours. I don't feel 100%. I'll be back later :P

Guys it won't be long till we get at least the SMC/SFC to SFROM converter I'm sure, then after that it's a matter of days until we do get the full hakchi experience.

in other news I'm pretty stoked that 8bitdo got their shit together and made the Retro Receiver for NES Classic compatible with SNES classic, they could have let everything as it was and asked you to pay a new controller and adapter (their new 2.4ghz controller and receiver)

if you have a mini snes and a mini nes, just add the games you want to play on you nes classic and use your snes controllers on it.
