So I went and finally did it.. While trying to update to Luma 8.1.1 I accidentally installed A9LH again and then tried to update Luma..
Now my 3DS's light only turns blue for an instant and then turns immediately off.
I know I've probably royally screwd up but if there's someone with the patience to help me out I would appreciate it eternally.
Any questions that can help I will gladly answer.

You aren't bricked, it's supposed to do that. You're missing boot.firm from the sd card since you probably skipped a step in the guide. Go back, make sure you download EVERYTHING, and put the boot.firm from luma 8.1 on the sd card. Then follow what it says to do from there.

I've taken the sd off the 3ds and it still does that.
What I failed to mention is that I was already in boot9strap and with access to CFW.
Is there any chance that I really haven't screwed up?
I'm pretty sure I've put the boot.firm in there but maybe it was deleted?
At this point I don't even care about 8.1.1, I just want my DS to work again even on 7.1

You have to replace the renamed "boot.firm" with the "boot.firm" from the "Luma3DS v8.1.1.7z" file.

I did and it still won't work.
I think it's because I went to HBL and installed a9lhsafeinstaller, then tried to update Luma with the updater.
If it's what you're saying it is, should the 3DS work without and SD card or not?
Because either with an SD or without, it just won't turn on now.

Did you install a9lh over B9S!?!?! Maybe try having Luma 8.1 boot.firm and a luma 7.whatever bin and see if it boots?

I don't even know what version of godmode I'm on.
I had downloaded the latest forks of everything but the update still wouldn't happen on Luma before.
It said it did update to 8.1 but everytime I checked I was still on 7.1

If you were on a9lh you can't install 8.0+ since it only supports B9S
You might want to put 7.1 back onto your 3ds and see if it boots.

Hey, listen.
I want to tell you all something.
I F******* LOVE YOU.
Like, for real.
I do.
I don't know why, I don't care why.
It worked.

PSA: If you're a noob, don't fiddle too much with stuff you don't know.

A9lh most likely just installed over B9S. So just update back!

Just replaced boot.firm with the 7.1 luma boot.firm.
When I turn on without SD it still won't work but I don't really care that much.
Still, I do want to have boot9 over a9lh.
Any way I can see what's going on with that?

I thought you said it worked? I'm pretty sure there isn't a 7.1 boot.firm. Just use the a9lh .bin and then update back to B9S. A9lh can't use .firm.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

7.1 boot.firm for Luma.
It does work when I insert the SD Card.
I think I'm somewhere in between a9lh and boot9strap now but all my downloaded games seem to work so maybe I shouldn't pry around too much.
DS takes a little longer to turn on but everything else works great.

That's not a thing. Delete arm9loaderhax.bin off of the sd card. If it boots, you're running b9s. The reason it won't boot without the sd card is that you, just like 98 percent of people, forgot to copy boot.firm to the ctrnand with godmode9.

Now I tried to install boot9strap again and it says unsupported launcher (argc=0)
Damnit, I swear that the next time I can turn it on and it will work I'll never EVER do anything again.
Can you help me with that?

That's normal. Now download Luma v8.1.1 and place the boot.firm on the root of your SD card.

I just told you that you have it installed.

Yep, you're right.
That must have been the most botch update to Luma 8.1.1
It's kinda funny that this was my initial goal but I'm probably on Boot9Strap 1.1 which kinda makes Luma 8.1.1 useless and scared out of my pants to update to Boot9Strap 1.2 because I'm afraid I'll screw up again.
Also, my DS won't turn on without the SD inserted and I don't know how to fix that but maybe this is the time for me to fold and just let my DS live like a zombie since it actually is still alive.
Anyway, thank you for all your help!

Did you not follow the guide? If you did you should have B9S v1.3, Luma v8.1.1 and firmware 11.6.

The easiest way to fix the SD-less boot is to have the latest LumaUpdater installed, launch it, update Luma and it will say to press X and A buttons to install Luma to the CTRNAND.
