Hacking Access shop without updating?

I just put a Splatoon 2 bundle on layaway, but I now realize instead of being pre installed it's a download code.

I noticed talk of updating games without updating, is it possible to get that game without doing so?

That's why I play offline only and buy cartridges (because I don't need internet and can sell them later)

I've tried proxy blocking some nintendo ip's back in 3.0.0. I couldn't make it work. There was the update nag one but then it couldn't reach the right ip for the shop so it said it's no availible.

TL;DR IT DOESN'T WORK. YET...

If you are on 3.0.1, you can still access online services without updating to 3.0.2

Wait so the trick doesn't work anymore? I remember that there was a trick. I'm still on 2.0.1 and last time I was on my system to download was when Disgaea 5 came out. So they have definitely blocked the trick and we have to wait for a new one to come out... hopefully.

I have a 2.3.0 console and it would be cool to update some games.
