"that's a lot less than an official Switch Pro Controller (£60, £65 for one with a splatoon theme), but naturally with the downsides that these are wired and also lack HD Rumble"

Rumbling is a gimmick and the fewer batteries in my life, assuming this wire is long enough for the average run, the better.

Equally Argos (popular UK high street/catalogue seller) has them in stock down town now for £30

Never quite got why people get excited about minor colour and laser doodled things but hey. Cheaper controllers is nice, though I kind of like it when it is £15 new or £5-10 second hand.

If it's wired so it can't be connected while not in the dock, right?
Like see, the lack of HD rumble is fine.. but if I can't play with it on the go that's a major downside imo

I don't know what the correct specs are. "...a 10 foot removable USB cable..", "...naturally with the downsides that these are wired..." from a comment I quoted on NL. HD rumble is definitely not included.

I hope they have a better D-PAD.

It's looking like a decent D-pad, but as always, will it be mushy or will it be solid? I think either way, that paint will be a problem, but since it looks like a normal D-pad, it can probably get swapped with a better D-pad.

That's a good point. Unless the dock has a USB C connector and I don't remember? Alternatively, they could package an adapter.

Though I'm sure they only intended this to be used in docked mode.

Those look pretty good, especially the Mario one.
These actually look like 1st party controllers.
But I already got a Splatoon 2 Pro Controller so I'll stick with that.

Wired, no gyro, no amiibo scanning, no HD-rumble. Its a pass from me. They look nice though, not denying that.

So I can't chrage it while using this pro controller. Let's say for example I'm in a LAN competition and I need to charge my Switch. I can't use this pro controller.
alright, why in the hell would you be doing a lan competition with a pro controller in handheld mode in the first place, theirs spliters but the down side is you even going to that competition at all, there are 3 usb ports on the switch so that is not an issue there
and a major competition would likely have docks there for each set of currently playing players, when your up, dock it, when your out take ya shit outa there
