Hello,

I just updated to the latest version of luma firmware today. I was on an older version and had to switch to boot9strap in the process. The update worked fine, and my 3ds was working well for a bit, however I can no longer navigate any menu's any more after rebooting the 3ds. I can hear my music I put on during an earlier firmware, and everything looks as if it is running fine but I can not navigate anything.

Pressing the "a" button brings me to the currently highlighted app which is the homebrew launcher no matter what now, even on reboot. In the homebrew channel, I can navigate fine, and everything works. Pressing home takes me home as usual but nothing works outside of it.

Starting the 3ds with start and select both work and take me to the luma menu, and god mode as usual and those can both be navigated fine.

Is there anything I can do to solve this, preferably without losing all my data?

I have the new 3ds for reference.

That's odd. Have you tried to use the touch screen to navigate instead of the buttons?

Yes I have, it only works in the homebrew launcher though.

I can also press the power button and the menu to shut down pop's up, but again, can't press the button on screen to turn it off so I have to press and hold the power button to make it shut off.

Hmm, I wouldn't say it's a hardware problem since the buttons/touchscreen work within apps. You could try installing a fresh version of your HomeMenu as a CIA and see if that helps. Also try replacing the Luma Boot.firm on your SD card manually (don't use Wifi) since it might just be a corrupted file.

I'd try installing a fresh homemenu first Lol
i am trying to find the link (thought i had it saved) but 3dsdown is like a more efficient version of a ctrtransfer so it would install system titles including the homemenu
regardless if he downgraded then updated via wifi it would accomplish the goal (installing a fresh homemenu)

Eh, I'm a believer in working smarter vs harder. It takes less time to download the HomeMenu CIA through 3DNUS and install it then doing a CTRNAND transfer. 3DOWN isn't more efficient, it's just a collection of scrubbed CTRNAND transfers for various systems/regions. They aren't even full CTRNAND transfers. As such, they don't downgrade everything and you end up on a frankenfirm on purpose which can potentially cause issues with incompatible system titles depending on you setup, which file you use and your current firm. I usually suggest that or a full NAND restore as a last resort.

Interestingly I tried doing this as you said, and it had the same issue still. Tried a slightly older version and it seems to be fine now. No idea what the problem is but I'm glad it is working again. Thanks for the suggestion.

No problem, glad you got it situated.
i am conflicted he did get a solution but now has

True, since he said he had to use an outdated version which I didn't forsee;the newest one should have worked fine. If he updates again (even from 11.5) it will install the newest one again for him to see if the problem is gone entirely or just a weird issue.
