R4i Gold works on latest firmware, AK2i does not.
But why don't you install CFW first then restore the original flashcart firmware afterwards?

If only what you you want is DS games,then go for it

Get R4i Gold or super card DS2 (if you want to emulate some nes or old system games)

Free games, emulators, cheats, game mods, save backup & editing, custom themes and more isn't worth the 5 minutes it takes you to install CFW?

Is it fool proof this setup I mean metroid 2
And monster hunter stories come out next week. i mainly just wanted to play ex troopers but its cheaper on ps3 and on tv

Setting up and using NTRBoot is fool proof and only takes a few minutes. Not to mention when you are done, you can still keep using that flashcart for NDS games. If you are worried, you should look over the guide and study it for a bit
