We have this for Loadiine:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/playing-loadiine-games-from-hdd-thanks-to-mocha-cfw.460774/

But I definitely wanna try out moving my installed games over to my FAT32 drive with the recent Mocha build. Please avoid telling me how terrible slow the loading times are. I don't care for now. I just wanna try a few games out.

What are the steps I would have to do?
I know that I have to install my games at least once to a Wii U formatted USB device for the ticket to exist and that I have to create a usr folder in my FAT32 drive's root directory.
Using ftpiiu I could just move everything from /storage_usb/usr/ over to the created folder on my drive but that would take ages so ... help me understand what everything is for and what can be done by just unpacking NUS packages from sources like Wii U USB Helper.

Inside usr we have:
  • boss (dunno what that is for)
  • import (dunno what that is for)
  • packages (dunno what that is for)
  • save (that's obvious)
  • title (I'll come to this in detail later)
  • tmp (dunno what that is for)
I moved everything except title (as that would take ages) to my FAT32 drive with ftpiiu + WinSCP.
Now if we open title we have:
  • 00050000 (the games)
  • 0005000c (DLCs)
  • 0005000e (updates)
Inside 00050000 for example we have the various installed titles named by the second half of their title ID (as the first half is already covered by the parent folder name 00050000), so we have something like 10145d00 here which is Super Mario 3D World.

What I'm a bit confused about is that there are many more titles than how much I really installed.
Does anyone know the reason for that?

So my questions are:
  1. If I copy everything over except the title folder can I fill it by myself with unpacked NUS titles (Loadiine ready folders) so I have something like USB:\usr\title\00050000\10145d00\code+content+meta will that be enough?
  2. Does anyone know why there's more titles on the drive than I actually installed?
  3. Can someone explain what the other folders in usr are for and/or if I have forgotten something or have to take care of something?
Edit: Forget about 2. - I really installed all of them, was just annoyed. :P

I may not be the best to comment since i didn't tried but, i am looking at your problem and my thoughs are:

Even if you unpack and copy the titles from a wup to a fat hdd ( i though that option was only with loadiine hdd support) , would'nt it would be better to just leave your stuff on a Wiiu formated hdd? Loadiine or even fat32 unpacked game have somes issues like Super Mario 3D or Wonderful 101 to name only them.

I hope a Fat32 or ntfs support comes or atleast more dev support... Its pretty annoying to copy games from pc to sd than hdd.

The only issues I'm aware of are (very (very (very))) long loading times, especially in Super Mario 3D World but as I wrote I don't care for now. Problem is, it doesn't even finishes scanning my drive after launching Mocha CFW (with FAT support) although I'm sure I did everything right.

If I was you I would just stick with an sd card for your mocha.elf & files etc..and use your proper HDD for your games, if you have not got a big HDD, then sell off your big sd cards maybe some original wiiu games, if you have any left then go too a second hand shop like CEX here in the UK and buy a cheap 2TB HDD instead. Scrap your loadiine titles altogether because most of those can be downloaded from the servers now. Also set up cbhc on autoboot for systemmenu, job done! maybe create some ds titles for other apps like GX2 Wup Installer etc.. why mess about with what your trying to do? its pointless now.

If you really want to go to town on your wiiu like having cbhc setup on your tv, not just your gamepad screen or maybe have other apps included as your cbhc menu, like NNU-Patcher, Gecko, Padcon, Saviine etc.. or more vWii stuff etc.., then that's more complicated but can be done I've filled my screen now with 16 apps on cbhc menu I cant add anymore because it will brick my wiiu!. I could show you a video for example of mine if you like? I have done my own custom made cbhc menu for a while now..

Tbh I think CBHC is the best thing going for the hacked wiiu at the moment and is a necessity for your wiiu, without a doubt!. What Fix94 originally did with that haxchi coldboot mix was fantastic, hats off to him even though I thought his version was lacking a lot! not just in terms off apps but its style & presentation.

I did you a quick video I was uploading it too you tube but I had to stop because its got my full name on the screen and I'm not sure if that's illegal or not even though I didnt create cbhc but I have custom made it myself? I will post it if its not and someone can confirm its ok to do it. I would take my name off but I cant be bothered to create my cbhc.elf file again and install it just to do that part.

I'm sorry as I don't wanna be rude since your intention was to help me I guess but ...
What are you even talking about?
I'm not talking about Haxchi or CBHC. I'm already using Haxchi and it's cool and all that but that's entirely not the point of this thread.

This thread is about the newest commits that Dimok did to Mocha CFW so Wii U games can be launched from a FAT32 drive (which (Coldboot) Haxchi can't!) which leads me to the nice fact that I can store everything on one big USB drive.
That's all I ever wanted for the Wii U somehow.
It's working great for Loadiine from USB already but this thread is about the WUP method which I was trying to figure out.

Did you even read the first post? There are already people around here claiming that they did what I was trying to do and the only downsides are slow loading times (which doesn't matter to me for now).

Thanks for all your tips but I'm completely aware of (almost) all available hacks and methods for Wii U (including Haxchi/CBHC) but that's not the point of this thread. ;)

I know I did read it I was just advising you what I thought would be the best way to go! the fat32 drive for mocha doesn't even work that well so stick with your sd card with mocha.elf file on it and use a HDD just for your games, forget about loadiine games and move on, if you want to transfer your saves from loadiine then use saviine, job done!. All your doing is making it harder for yourself for your setup. Also you do know mocha works with cbhc and much better, less hassle, if you want that. Your still using haxchi to load all your homebrew and certain signature patches? its redundant with cbhc, it loads everything on autoboot up and more. Why you want to use mocha is beyond me???

Hey maybe try looking at the actual fork thread? It exists for a reason you know?

After reading both of your posts again it seems to me that what you consider the "best solution for me" is only about Wii U games.
The reason I'm sticking into Mocha is that Dimok pushed FAT32 support to it which CB(HC) doesn't have.
And (if that isn't obvious already) I want one big USB drive that contains everything:
  • Wii U games
  • Wii games
  • WiiWare games
  • GameCube games
  • roms for RetroArch
  • TV shows, movies and music for WiiMC
And I don't wanna use Loadiine for various reasons like:
  • Loadiine has less compatibility (few games won't even start, few need Smash, few MiiMaker, Twilight Princess has cutscene issues)
  • game updates sometimes suck on Loadiine
  • games won't show up in activity log (which I like)
  • trainers (like the Zelda ones) won't work
  • newest HID to VPAD doesn't work with it
  • and so on ...
So if I'm someone who doesn't care for long loading times that much (which I would have with Loadiine anyways) there's two options for me:
  1. get up und swipe USB cables everytime on my Wii U's back depending on what I wanna do with it
  2. use Mocha CFW FAT32 build and WUP method to have everything on one drive <--- prefered.

Hey maybe try looking at the actual fork thread? It exists for a reason you know?
Mocha has been forked?
