Hacking Making a 2ds with cfw for a child.

So here is the scenario. I want to take my child's 2ds, and install luma. I have two systems both on low fw so that is not the problem. The problem lies in changing the god9 start button on start and and other key presses on start. I hear rosalina also has a button combo. Can i change both of these after install? Can i also remove the injected app in the download play after, i believe its rosalina or the homebrew loader.

Unfortunately, you cannot change the button combo for GodMode9/the chainloader. However, there is an option to change the button combo for Rosalina, and you can change the current hb. title to something else, not sure about removing it though.

You can remove the payloads folder so the payloads can't be started accidentally. And if you put parental controls on then the child can't get into FBI without the PIN (it has no rating so will be blocked automatically). For Rosalina, you could set the button combination to something complex that would be hard to trigger accidentally (to out it back to normal deleting Luma's config.bin should do the trick). I hope this is the info you were looking for.

Yes it is what will launch the homebrew launcher.

The HB Title is whichever application the Homebrew menu is set to run under. If I were you, I would install the actual homebrew menu because it is locked by parental pin as long as you have it set up.

Thats the thing, on my 3ds i have the cia of fbi and homebrew loader. So i would love to just set the download play app back to the download play app.. I can move them to a folder and tell him if he touches it then his ds will set on fire, he wont touch them, but i do have parental controls on anyways. So remove the payload folder, and turn rosalina to some crazy button combo.

K, so i am at the launch download play part and hit L Down Select. But i do not get the Rosalina menu...

you already have the answer to that one

For Rosalina, you could set the button combination to something complex that would be hard to trigger accidentally (to out it back to normal deleting Luma's config.bin should do the trick)

I already fixed it.

But now i need to figure out, how to remove the hb loader from the download play..

Interesting. So he would not be able to boot into god9 or anything.. But how would i access it? And would removing the payload basically be the same?

Anyone know if i get a bigger sd card.. If i can just copy paste everything from the 4gb to the bigger one (didn't think this through) and i have installed the stealth build.

If you get a bigger SD card, if it is 32 gb or less, you can just copy and paste the files and it will work. If you get a card that's greater than 32 gb (i.e. 64 gb), you'll need to format it to FAT32 with something like guiformat. Someone will need to confirm the cluster size (either 32k or 64k cluster sizes) because I can never rememder which one to use.

Well this ds is used only to play games, no online features. So having parental controls on means i can leave fbi and luma updater and he can not access them. The biggest reason i went though all this is to not have lost carts via him or his little sister. I keep all of them on a shelf with my collection but neither is allowed to touch them, this way he can just play any of the game i ripped and not have to worry. Christmas time will come and he will probably get a new 2ds xl. So i will go through all of this again lol and just unlock this 2ds and give it to a friends kid or something..

Until then you still need to keep this one and might aswell read about hacking through DSiware, because a 2DS XL comes with firmware 11.4 and would need another console with CFW to be hacked.
I know for first timer the guide seemed overwhelming but when you've already done it once or twice, having all files prepared on a SD then it takes only several minutes
