Hey guys,

Recently pulled out my Wii U after not using it for quite some time.
I'm currently running 5.3.2 and given the recent advancements in homebrew and everything I thought I'd take a punt at installing a CFW on my WiiU.

Firstly of-course I have to take a backup of my NAND which I've done before:

Thought given it's quite old I'm fairly certain it's the NAND from my vWii.

Anyway, loaded KaflukeHost which I've done before, loaded the Homebrew Launcher from the Web-Browser then navigated to the NandDumper application (version 0.3).

After selecting yes to all options the 'Wii U Menu' splash screen stays up for about 20 seconds then it returns me to the main Wii U menu.
I've tried the following:

  • Re-formatted my SD card with FAT32 (was originally fat32)
  • Tried 16,32 and 64 memory allocation
  • Tried exFat (yes obviously this won't work but I was clutching at straws)
  • Tried version 0.2 of the NAND dumper with the same results

At this point I'm out of ideas.
Hopefully someone could potentially point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

I would focus on getting to 5.5.1 and then try. Or update to 5.5.2 and use the new webexploit to install HaxChi CFW. Then run your backup. I don't know if it works under 5.3.2

If I load a version of Paper Color Mario Splash through Loaddine will it let me update to 5.5.1? That's the only game that apparently contains the update.

Get a disk game with 5.5.1 or follow the tutorial in the tutorials section to install 5.5.1 manually. There is a risk of messing up that way though. For simplicity and safety though disk method is way to go.

No you need a disc version and there is more than one that has the 5.5.1 update on them

Breath of the wild
Paper Mario
Darksiders warhammered edition
And a few more have the update.

Alright. While everyone really wants me to upgrade to 5.5.1

Shouldn't the software be working on 5.3.2?

No. All the things that do things with the iosu are only compatible with 5.5.x (they are only compatible with that specific build of the iosu)

what's this new webexploit u speak of?

Its stable enough to get HaxChi installed for 5.5.2 users. If you're on 5.5.1 there still really isn't a good reason to upgrade. Nothing has changed there
