Gaming Restoring saves from SD card

I have an SD card from my old 3ds that has saves from a few games that I want to restore to my new 3ds, (but the only one I really care about is Pokemon Sun). Is there any way to do this, can anyone help? I can upload everything in the SD card to a folder in Dropbox or Google Drive or something and link it if someone's willing to take on the challenge, because I can't figure it out. I can give more details if needed, I just don't know where to start.

Do you have cfw installed on any of the 3ds? Also, the 3ds with the save is a O3DS and the target a N3DS?

I have cfw on the n3ds, but not on the o3ds. The o3ds has been factory reset though, I just have the Sd card from it (I have the digital version of Sun btw). The reason I need to restore the save in the first place, is when I transferred my games from my o3ds to n3ds, no games or saves came with it.

Well, since your O3DS doesn't have cfw it might make things a bit more complicated, but give this guide a try, if it's possible.

That won't work because the o3ds has already been factory reset by the transfer from before, which didn't work right (the reason I'm doing this is a failed transfer)
I think I'm gonna see if I can do anything with what this says, basically from what I can tell I need to find a way to change the console-specific "keyslot" (I think that's what it's called) from the o3ds one to one that works with my n3ds.

Oh, I see. Have you also tried copying your save files from your o3ds, downloading the game on your n3ds, then pasting it into the mircrosd? I remember doing something similar when my o3ds's motherboard fried, but its been a long time. Your save files are located on: Nintendo 3DS> folder with random numbers> folder with more random numbers> title> choose the heaviest folder >judging by the size and date of each folder, pick the one you think is PKMN Sun, go to data and copy the .save file. Plug your microsd into your pc and follow the same steps, and paste it.
I see some save files sharing going around the forum too, so I think there should be a way to reuse your save file without having to go trough all the trouble to changing your key-slot.

As each console has a unique encryption. If you havent pulled the save with a decryptor such as JK's save manager. You most likely will not be able to recover such a savefile

Ok, so just moving the .sav file didn't work (somewhat expected), so I'm now trying to find a way to patch the old save with the new key

Without the old 3ds having any CFW of any sort. I dont believe there is anyway to use that previous save with a new encryption of a different 3ds system.

Think I could use a save editor or something on the original save and then copy it into a new save? Idk, I'm just kinda trying anything I can basically.

There are not any programs out there that I know of that would be able to decrypt a encrypted save file.

EDIT: nvm, this requires me to be able to use the game to get different versions of the save
If save managers decrypt/change the format of the save using the 3ds, shouldn't there be a way to do this on pc? I don't really know how it works, but there must be some way, right?

creating a save with jksm uses decrypted save files. Which all systems can read those and use them to be backed up to. Having a save created using the 3DS system itself makes a encrypted save using the keys of THAT system alone. Only that system has the keys needed to decrypt and read that save. Yes carts have saves made right to the cart itself but digital versions use this encryption.

If it was possible, many save trading threads would be out there, and you'd probably be able to recover your save games. Unfortunately, this isn't the case.
