THE PUMA IS BACK

So, I was bored, and I wanted to try DevkitARM for Linux
To do some practice, "I" have made two CFWs...

One is exactly what I normally use, aka regular Luma (currently the very latest version, f6483ec) but with the main region free patches disabled (just in case you wonder why)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1OGj4xwAe9_RGxYWVJOdkh6dEE/view

The other, which may be of interest to five more users than the above one, is based on Luma Legacy (the allegedly final version, 4b57af3) and removes almost every patch, except of course for the kernel write protection ones, and probably emunand;
The idea is giving you the ability to preview, with the least hassle (no need to backup/restore/actually remove B9S) if you have unsigned titles (I tested it before creating this post, can confirm you won't lose sighacritical systemx by running an 11.3+ sysnand on it, and unsigned titles don't launch, but can't prove that if it boots this way it will boot after reflashing the kernel partitions to stock; it also appears to delete your Luma config.bin)
Maybe useful for troubleshooting problems with forced patches?

I made a build just yesterday with an option to disable the Rosalina menu, so I guess that fits this thread: https://github.com/Cuphat/Luma3DS/releases/tag/v8.1.1-rosalinaoption

I'm actually somewhat interested in something like this. Just a simple "CFW" that is a B9S firm on either SD or CTRNAND that has the FIRM writing patch to protect B9S and reboot patches so things work normally, but nothing else. Essentially just a safe OFW loader for B9S. Not super useful but a neat idea anyway.

"since I use the launcher from 8.x on all my O3DS, and the region free patch causes "the black squares" (normally hidden apps becoming visible) on Home versions less of that bundled with 9.0"
okay but like, why do you use the 8.x launcher?

But I'm curious, if we mix both of your builds (yours and Ryccardo's), do we get the simplest Luma fork ever made ?

Faster to render icons, and don't have to scroll down a menu to adjust brightness

----

New version of NonCFW...

  • Reboot patches reenabled
  • Removed external kernel/modules feature
  • Loader module completely disabled
  • Exception handlers completely removed
  • Removed features now actually removed from setup menu
  • Speaking of the configuration, now in a separate file to avoid conflicts with real Luma
  • Readme.txt removed and setup menu header changed since I bet someone is going to report a bug to TuxSH
  • Picture unrelated as a reward for reading this far
  • Half the size

Would anyone be able to take the current version of Luma and add an option in the Rosalina menu to toggle on or off Luma LayeredFS? I'd like to quickly be able to adjust before going into something like Super Mario Maker and play the traditional way as Mario, or play the modded Super Luigi Maker version with the Luma LayeredFS plugin. I can do this at boot by holding select, but it'd be nice to be able to quickly control this from within Luma's Rosalina menu.
