Hacking Is it possible to "dual boot" 2 CFW's

Everyone said emunand and menuhax 'just worked' after a9lh got released, even when a9lh was long past being dangerous. Who's to say the same thing won't happen to corbenik? There hasn't even been a fork yet.

Okay, but how does reinand give you more control? It's supposed to be minimalist.
Actually yes it does. By providing a platform of less, I am allowed to add onto it and I have the choice to add the features I want to add. It's an example of less is more.

The thing is... there has been a fork. Not to say it's been updated that much, but hey, you're technically incorrect.

Second. Menuhax differs a lot more from B9S than A9LH does. Menuhax was NEVER reliable to start. Second, I don't really care. Again, I know what I'm doing and I will keep using that which I prefer for logical reasons (I use features Luma doesn't offer, unlike most people who didn't want to switch from Menuhax+RX just because "it worked").

So that means taking off features gives you more control? That doesn't make any sense at all.

alright, have fun in a couple months when we have ftp and plugin support baked into rosalina

My issue with Luma3DS stems from several reasons
Lack of true choice. The user isn't allowed to choose features they want to use. It's all handpicked from them without very little input. I hacked my 3DS to allow me to have control over it with, not to allow some other team to decide what I can and can't do. I did have some objections towards the non-toggled features, but decided to go with CakesFW and Corbenik instead of voicing them. I mean, why get bent out of shape with something when I could just use something else. I didn't like how Luma3DS was turning out, but I had the option to leave it, so I didn't raise any objections.
Fast forward and I began watching a trend in the forums. Users started to attack devs in the name of Luma3DS. Which I then I made my blog about this
http://gbatemp.net/entry/the-state-of-the-3ds-cfw-scene.11957/
I made it clear from that day that the current CFW scene was going downhill and I've only been able watched it fall downhill. I've watched dev after dev leave our scene. I watched projects all apart and Luma3DS take their place. I watched the scene die until there was nothing left, but two and one everyone wishes was dead.

My last issue is the reality that I am not even allowed to express my thoughts on the forums. In fact no one is allowed to express themselves on the forums anymore. Say one bad thing about Luma3DS and suddenly you are some troll and up for mockery. People simply aren't allowed to dislike Luma3DS and they aren't allowed to defend themselves either. The scene is so consumed by this project that it's impossible to do anything else. Luma3DS has literally become a cult at this point and it's impossible to do anything anymore.

Now why do I hate Rosalina? Because if I am not going to use it, then why have it running in the background? I shouldn't be made to run something in the background that I am not going to use. I hack my stuff to get away from that shit. Coupled with the reality that the team can't even or won't even find a method to make it a toggle feature is just shitty. It's just "Nope! We ain't changing it." And it's worse for me knowing that there's no other options outside of the few willing to stick with ReiNAND. But like I said, the community seems to want ReiNAND dead
Bravo to this ^^^

Don't use plugins, don't use FTP on the 3DS (and even if I did, I have ftpd, which takes less than a few seconds to open anyway?), I'll have fun indeed.

Not much to be said. Luma does have more features. I don't really want them. So I don't have them in my code. To be honest though, ReiNand does have a feature over Luma, It allows for users to add patches through the loader submodule. Rei uses it for research on eShop, and I use it so I don't add unnecessary code to the loader module.

The features weren't taken off if they weren't there to begin with. But instead allowing the user to say, "Hey I want these features, but I don't want to strip Luma3DS just to have these features!" Thus giving them a platform to build upon instead of take apart.
Corbenik and CakesFW had the advantage of having these patches separate and allowing the user to toggle or even just delete them. You could literally strip them down to the most basic of patches without a single ill effect to them.

I wasn't talking about corbenik or cakes, I was talking about reinand. And stripping luma3ds of features somehow gives you features???? What?

The thing is, a majority of people who have hacked their 3ds just want simplicity & regular updates, I doubt they want to download additional firms/cetk just to setup their cfw or to use a cfw from a dev that left the scene ages ago.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, it's just that simplicity usually wins in a case like this (and yes, ik corbenik is for 'advanced' users and isn't meant to be 'simple').

Who says ReiNand can't be simple?

I answered your question about how removing features gives greater control.
And not everyone wants more features, how hard is that for people to understand? Not everyone wants a CFW that seconds as a toaster oven.

So having more features is bad somehow?
Why don't you just use pasta than? It gives you all you could ever want, signature patches.

My opinion on that is, people think it is better having less because they are free to add anything they want in it, such as ReiNAND. It is like, you are "baking" your perfect CFW by only taking the patches you need. Luma is a pack of patches (that can be useful or not depending of the user), but you are not free to change. I do think i've "resumed" the situation. Feel free to correct me ico.

Now you are just being argumentative. It's not the amount of features that's the issue, it's execution and level of control.

Who says ReiNand can't be simple?
I never actually meant to imply ReiNand wasn't simple, but rather that the dev has left the scene, meaning there's no official updates.
I remember when ReiNand was seemingly discontinued around November & a few games / updates (e.g. ACNLs) couldn't work on it. Obviously it got updated a while later but my point still stands that without updates, stuff will eventually get broken. That doesn't mean users shouldn't/can't use it while it's still functional though.

When I first came into the Scene ReiNand was the big thing, and I was as happy as a child getting some toys when I managed to run it through menuhax, good old memorys. I'll never forget Reinand.
