Hacking Is it possible to "dual boot" 2 CFW's

@addi33
"Complete control" exactly what luma is missing. I don't see any great features on luma which I can't have on any other up to date patcher
Layeredfs, all the features rosalina has and will have soon, just one file for the entire cfw, and many more features.
Complete control would be nice, but most if not all of the automatic features don't make sense to disable in the first place.

Yeah thanks for starting
no problem :)

Until luma won't toast my sandwich I still don't call it the best sig patcher around

I'm not denying anyone's right to speech, in fact I'm more than happy to engage in dialogue about the new features of luma.

It's when people bring up in completely unrelated threads "lol luma is shit" meme that I take offense.
Yeah, it was funny when people threated rxtools as shit and Pasta Team got pissed. That was a nice meme

I'm saying that each software has its individual features and it shouldn't interest what other peoples opinions are
...but other cfw's don't have any advantages over luma, and have disadvantages over it. Lack of features isn't a good argument because even features you won't personally use aren't intrusive at all.

No, it's not. It has less features than luma, it just gives you control over absolutely everything in the cfw.
Actually, it does have features Luma doesn't. And most of what Luma offers. Notable exceptions include Rosalina, which I don't really care about anyway.

The ability to control patches? A nicer-looking menu? The ability to force booting the test menu from that menu itself? The ability to have far more EmuNANDs? They do seem like advantages over Luma to me.

Not everyone wants those features.
@Lilith Valentine seems to hate luma3ds for no damn reason at all. I agree that other devs not having the support luma is a problem, but that's not a reason not to use luma.
I have my reasons and I've made them clear before. Although the community's reaction to negative comments towards Luma3DS is a big reason onto itself.

No, you haven't made it clear. Why don't you just state your problem?
My issue with Luma3DS stems from several reasons
Lack of true choice. The user isn't allowed to choose features they want to use. It's all handpicked for them without very little input. I hacked my 3DS to allow me to have control over it with, not to allow some other team to decide what I can and can't do. I did have some objections towards the non-toggled features, but decided to go with CakesFW and Corbenik instead of voicing them. I mean, why get bent out of shape with something when I could just use something else. I didn't like how Luma3DS was turning out, but I had the option to leave it, so I didn't raise any objections.
Fast forward and I began watching a trend in the forums. Users started to attack devs in the name of Luma3DS. Which I then I made my blog about this
http://gbatemp.net/entry/the-state-of-the-3ds-cfw-scene.11957/
I made it clear from that day that the current CFW scene was going downhill and I've only been able watched it fall downhill. I've watched dev after dev leave our scene. I watched projects all apart and Luma3DS take their place. I watched the scene die until there was nothing left, but two and one everyone wishes was dead.

My last issue is the reality that I am not even allowed to express my thoughts on the forums. In fact no one is allowed to express themselves on the forums anymore. Say one bad thing about Luma3DS and suddenly you are some troll and up for mockery. People simply aren't allowed to dislike Luma3DS and they aren't allowed to defend themselves either. The scene is so consumed by this project that it's impossible to do anything else. Luma3DS has literally become a cult at this point and it's impossible to do anything anymore.

Now why do I hate Rosalina? Because if I am not going to use it, then why have it running in the background? I shouldn't be made to run something in the background that I am not going to use. I hack my stuff to get away from that shit. Coupled with the reality that the team can't even or won't even find a method to make it a toggle feature is just shitty. It's just "Nope! We ain't changing it." And it's worse for me knowing that there's no other options outside of the few willing to stick with ReiNAND. But like I said, the community seems to want ReiNAND dead

Well, this devolved fast. To again answer the OP's question, use bootctr9, Luma passes ARGC and ARGV to chainloaded applications, This messes with my version of ReiNand, and was the reason I had to remove the screeninit flag in my .firm builds. I'm unsure if bootctr9 does the same however. To answer the burning question of, "Why do you use a CFW other than Luma?" I personally don't like being part of the trends. I like making my own trail. That's why I picked up Reinand. I've just really never had a desire to use Luma, idk why. I just don't.

Yeah, but it's discontinued. Discontinued cfws just turn into rxtools 2 eventually.
Now will they? A9LH still works just as fine as it used to. So does Corbenik. Sure, they might break sometime. However. Not much has changed until now. Corbenik has advantages over Luma. I use those features that Luma doesn't offer. I'm not particularly interested in Rosalina or the features Luma has that Corbenik doesn't. If it breaks, I'll switch to something else. I have backups and I know what I'm doing.

Corbenik is significantly different from RXTools.

Everyone said emunand and menuhax 'just worked' after a9lh got released, even when a9lh was long past being dangerous. Who's to say the same thing won't happen to corbenik? There hasn't even been a fork yet.

Okay, but how does reinand give you more control? It's supposed to be minimalist.
