So i got a 2nd Nintendo Switch,it comes with 2.3 FW and wanted to stay on this FW,but after inserting 64GB SD it asked
for update it to make it functional (and from my experience with my last Switch it's full update to 3.1)
I red once here that you can format SD card to NTFS/Fat32 can't remember exactly can anyone help me with this?

if you read it, it wouldn't be NTFS...
i recall something that the first time you insert a SDXC card it will ask to "update" to get the support for it... not sure if it's related to EXFAT
On the one of the update threads a guy mentioned that you can make the switch recognize the SD without forcing you to update by formatting it but can't remember to what exactly

try fat 32
ntfs is a filesystem proprietary of microsoft. very few stuff supports it.. switch not being one of them.

If i remember well, the thing is that I had to activate it because my 128 was SDXC. Even If I formtted to FAT32/exfat the support for switch forced me to update it.
BUT
if you have a SDHC, I believe you can format this one with a tool like "MiniTool Partition Wizard" to delete the actual partition, and create a new exfat or fat32 one as primary.

I tried my 3.0 Switch SD card (primary system and sd already updated and functional) on the other Switch (2.3) still asked me for update?

I've ordered a 2nd switch and will take a look next week when it turns up, following this thread.

The Switch checks the filesystem, not the SD Card size. If you format a smaller MicroSD like 4GB to ExFAT, the Switch will prompt for an update to use it.
If you format a 64GB or larger MicroSD to FAT32, the Switch will use it without an update.

Thanks that's the answer i'm looking for, used partition app formatted the SD card from exFat to Fat32 and didn't ask for update
