My friend has a 11.4 n3DS and want it to be CFWed. So we are planning on buying a Ocarina of Time cartridge for oot3dhax.
I already have a n3DS 11.4 with B9S to install the hack on the cartridge. Should we give it a go? Any possible blockades here that im missing out?

You don't even need Ocarina. Go to 3ds.guide. All will be revealed to you if you can read and follow directions carefully.

there are no current entry points for 11.4 except for oot3dhax based on 3ds.guide

There's no point on staying on 11.4 if you want it to be CFW'ed. You won't be able to do a system transfer if you're not on 11.5(latest firmware). So just go ahead and update both of your 3DS'es and follow the 11.5 guide. You'll basically buy a dsiware game from the eshop on your CFW'ed 3DS, modify it then transfer it to the vanilla 3DS. You won't need an HBL entrypoint since the dsiwarehax will install b9s on the 11.5 vanilla 3DS afterwards.

Unfortunately i don't have DSIWare on my CFWed unit.. i'm basing on alternative entry points page and listing oot3dhax as compatible with 11.4..

There's just no way you can put CFW an 11.4/11.5 3DS right now except for hardmod and dsiwarehax. Buying OOT3D is fine if you just need an entrypoint on HBL, but that's just basically it. You will have access to Homebrew apps, but your friend's 3DS won't be CFW'ed. Also, buying the dsiware game is cheaper than buying the OOT3D cartridge, so why not just do that?

I suggest just read the guide thoroughly and you'll understand me. There's a reason why the guide doesn't have any links on 11.4. Though im still here to help you out.

Update your 3DS'es to 11.5 then do the 11.5 method(dsiwarehax)
Just make sure to make a latest NAND back up of your CFW'ed 3DS and your SD Card before doing the system transfer so you can just revert back all the games and saves on your 3DS.

oh okay.. i thought that if it can access the HB, you'll be able to continue on installing CFW.. thanks for the help man!

Unfortunately, as said before i dont have any of the DSiWares and afaik they are already removed on eshop. is there any other way around this?
or i guess we just have to wait for ntrboothax?

there is 2 method, dsiware save (which is removed) and game inject... so u can do with Installing boot9strap (DSiWare Game Injection)

Have a more careful read of https://3ds.guide/installing-boot9strap-(dsiware)
One way requires four games that have been removed from the eShop, the other required one of dozens of games that are still available. You want that one.
