For more information, see the first post of this thread: https://gbatemp.net/threads/cbhc-v1-6-coldboot-haxchi-cfw.452615/
Installing [CBHC] will execute the DS VC of your choice directly on system boot - giving you a direct coldboot exploit, the features you have after installing it are explained down below.
  • After installing it you better go ahead and set up some DNS server protection to block potential future system updates, while CBHC will fake the system version to 99.99.99 it still adds another safety factor just in case

thats defiantly what i did.

thanks lacius, you have put me onto the right path.
No problem. To address your other point, there is no reason to update to 5.5.2. I'm going to copy/paste a post of mine from earlier today:

Haxchi still works on 5.5.2, but updating to 5.5.2 is not recommended. If you update to 5.5.2 and something goes wrong with Haxchi, you will have no other way to load homebrew. I recommend doing the following:

Step 1. Block updates by adding these DNS settings:
For each of your connections (and all future connections), do the following:
  • Select the connection
  • Select “Change Settings”
  • Move to the second list and choose “DNS”
  • Set the DNS to “Don’t Auto-Obtain”
  • Set the DNS server IPs to the following servers
  • 168.235.092.108
  • 081.004.127.020
  • Select “Confirm”, then press (B) to save
  • These servers will block your SysNAND from being updated
Step 2. Delete the update folder on your NAND as extra protection against updates.

There's no added functionality that 5.5.2 brings, so there's no reason to update. If you want to update from 5.5.1 to 5.5.2 anyway without updating the browser, preserving that as a primary exploit, you can follow this guide to install the following three files:
0005001010041100 v560
0005001B10051000 v128
000500301001A10A v66
Online play still works on 5.5.1, and you can always use the eShop by running NNU Patcher first.[/quote]

If you update without updating the browser, will the Wii U still try to update?

Yes, the Wii U will still try to update the browser. Regardless of what you do, you should follow the two steps I outlined above. Make sure you have the proper DNS settings, and make sure you delete the update folder on your NAND for extra protection.

Hmm, that's seems pointless then. If you delete the update folder will the bouncing X still be there? Also how can you restore it?

The bouncing X will still appear from time to time without the update folder if you still have the DNS active. If you want to restore the ability to update your Wii U, you can re-add the folder and title it update.

So if you delete the update folder and switch off DNS blocking the X will be gone?

I've never removed my DNS settings for more than a minute to check that the removal of the update folder worked, so I don't know if the red X would disappear or not. Based on my understanding, my guess is the red X would continue to be there.

the red X usually appears, but if u make changes to the internet settings, the x will sometimes disappear. it also sometimes periodically disappears. I've seen it disappear for up to a few hours. nothing wrong with the connection either, so I think the wii u takes a break every so often. as long as u see it there most of the time, everything is working.
