Um, so I just opened Freeshop 3.1.4 and just wanted to take a look and then once I pressed the start button, my screen went black to an error screen with all this red writing and stuff. Anyone know what's happening? I'm on B9S and everything but I haven't touched my 3DS in a week. It's never done this before whenever I press start to go back to the home menu from the app. I'm getting kind of worried because since it hasn't appeared on the freeshop, I bought miitopia and now I'm afraid that this will interfere with that and all my other games. Does anybody know what to do or what is happening?

You can use the luma legacy version, that should stop it from happening. https://astronautlevel2.github.io/Luma3DS/

Hello everyone, back with my random noobness since I only dabble in this stuff these days, so I'm still on 11.0.0 U with AL9H, haven't updated to b9s, simply bcuz I just found out about this today and don't have an immediate need for it as of yet. Before I get into that I have a small problem I'd like to resolve which comes along with a quick question. I bought Hey! Pikmin, and would like to play it but of course my 3DS demands I install a system update to play. Since my 3DS is haxxed shouldn't there be a way for me to play carts legit without updating? any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

You can update with A9LH, just update your arm9loaderhax.bin to Luma 7.0.5 first https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases

Well that was quick and quite awesome of you, thanks. It's been a while and I've forgotten things like sys updates are ok with A9LH.. either way always better to be safe than sorry, so I just don't update anymore lol. I checked and my Luma version is at 6.6, do you recommend I fully update to 8.1 which I see is the latest release or do you want me to update specifically to 7.0.5 for a reason?

Edit: Hmmm a little further reading on the release github and I see that as of 7.1 Luma only seems to support b9s and no other entrypoints, I see now why you stated to update to 7.0.5. Thanks again.

I have decided that I will remove CFW from my 3DS. I'll eventually put it back on (if I can) later on. I know there's a guide on 3ds.guide but I was just wondering what I'd need to do before that to make sure everything is proper. There are a load of questions I have.
1. I have apps such as the homebrew launcher and freeshop and other cias and stuff. Do I remove those first or just follow the guide and they'll be removed?
2. Will this get rid of FBI entirely?
3. Will all my legitimate stuff still be in place?
4. Will this interfere with any eshop or cartridge games?
5. Will my custom theme be deleted or do I have to go into the eshop so that it's removed manually?
6. Will all of the folders still be on the 3DS after the process and if so, should I delete everything off the sd card?
7. If something goes wrong, will it brick my 3DS?
8. In the future, I'm thinking about restoring my hacks and repeating the hacking process. Will my 3DS allow me to redo all of the hacks (updated to the latest)?
Sorry for the load of questions, I just want to be sure that CFW is completely removed. Thanks as always, this forum has really helped me and I'll use it more once I get CFW back at the right time.

Why do you want to remove it? The only reason would be if you are selling to someone who specifically doesn't want it. But you can get more if you sell it with CFW. Anyway, to answer your questions:
1. No, they'll give you an error if you try to launch them after removing B9S. Remove first.
2. You have to remove it beforehand, it will not work afterward.
3. Yes.
4. Yes, out of region cartridges won't work anymore.
5. I don't know, it might stay.
6. Yes
7. Yes. If you have any custom system titles installed, or if you ever did a region change or changed friend seed or anything of that nature, your console will be bricked after uninstalling B9S.
8. No. You'll have to start over from https://3ds.guide and on 11.5 this means DSiWare hax (two consoles) or a hardmod.

This is a bad idea. There's a huge number of risks, and removing it solves absolutely no problems. In fact if you are having problems, removing B9S is even more likely to brick your console (B9S is probably what is keeping it functional).

Wait so then I shouldn't remove it because it's dangerous? Well ok then I'll keep it. The reason I want to remove it is that for me, it's kinda weird but, it's just that it puts a lot of stress on me because I don't want to brick my ds. I'm always nervous when booting it up or going into an app because I'm afraid of all this stuff. Plus I don't know anything about hacks and what they do. It's just confusing and stuff, y'know. It's just been so nerve racking and annoying to be constantly nervous all the time while playing my ds. I've always wondered for the past year if I could recover my 3DS from a brick and that's part of the reasons why I'm always nervous. Well, anyways then, I won't remove it. For the further question that I asked above, how would I imply that Luma legacy thing and what would it do? Is it mandatory and will it do anything to Luma?

The legacy luma will simply have the rosalina feature removed. It also removes alot of those arm crashes which some users report having. Its simply taking the boot.firm and placing it in the correct section of your sd card. As for booting up the system and entering apps. You'd need to worry more about your console crapping out from over use of normal wear and tear before anything like that was to ever happen for you.

What you could do is uninstall FBI and all your other homebrew apps, replace your boot.firm with the legacy build, remove the luma folder from your CTR-NAND, replace the boot.firm in the CTR-NAND with the one from your SD card, and delete all the homebrew and CFW stuff from your SD card. Then you can treat it like a stock console, but if anything bad happens you have B9S still and can recover easily. Plus you can keep playing your pirated games. If, before you get rid of all the homebrew stuff, you run tikShop, you can afterward download games from eShop without needing freeShop or anything.

I sold my 3DS a few month back and I'm thinking of picking another one up, whats the situation at the moment with the bans that was getting dished out? is that all blown over?

I just bought N2DSXL with 11.4, its better to stay on 11.4 or update to 11.5 if i want to install CFW in the future?

You're likely to be fine as long as you disable Spotpass sending of system information. No one knows for sure though.

The 11.4 firmware and the 11.5 firmware were compared by the hacking community, and it was concluded that no exploits that, if they existed in 11.4, were patched in 11.5
Right now we are at the point where if Nintendo patches an exploit we will find it out since we can see the firmware files.

When there's a new exploit it will most likely work on both so it doesn't really matter

Ok.

I'll keep that in mind if I ever decide to do that. If I do that however, will my CFW be gone including homebrew and Luma and FBI and things like that? And also, what is tikShop?
