If your console is on 11.5 you can use another 3ds that already has cfw to install cfw with dsiwarehax or hack it with a hardmod

Yes you can but only if you

as Uumas mentioned. The most current update or firmware from Nintendo is 11.5. You cannot put CFW on 11.5 unless you use the method Uumas mentioned.

While I'm at it, could anyone either tell me or direct me (no worries, I absolutely love reading lol) to a guide on installing HourGlass9? I've honestly searched quite a bit and nothing on how to actually install it that I can recognize. Its a .firm file and GodMode9 exists as a .firm file in "payloads" within luma but I'd rather be safe than sorry given my noob 3ds hacking status lol. I'd like to use Shadowtrance's UI version as well. Please and thanks in advance.

No. Did you check the 3dsguide site lol? Its extremely easy to follow, even shows you pics of your 3DS when starting. It also lets you know what you can do depending on the firmware you have:

Install Hourglass9 the same way you did for GodMode9. Move the .firm to your luma/payloads folder. Boot into H9 via Luma chainloader.

Sky3DS is not recommended, it costs more than a second-hand 2DS, and can do a lot less than having CFW. With a 2DS you can use it to install CFW on your N2DSXL (if on 11.3 or less). Have a look at https://3ds.guide. I would recommend getting a hackable 2DS, installing CFW on it, then using it to install CFW on your N2DSXL and selling the 2DS afterward.

I just got a New 2DS XL. I purchased a Cubic Ninja when it was announced to hack the 3DS. I played with the Cubic Ninja hack years ago, but I don't know where to start or even if I can use it hack my New 2DS XL. Is the New 2DS XL possible to hack? Is my Cubic Ninja game useful? I found this site https://3ds.guide/get-started-(new-3ds) but it looks like the New 2DS XL firmware is too new and that Cubic Ninja needs 8.1.0 firmware. I also read that I can't downgrade firmware. If I can hack can someone point me in the right direction?

Is it possible to play ds games on Gateway, sky3ds or SD card?

I want to play ds games for the cheapest prize possible while playing 3ds roms from the same cart without getting banned from online if possible. Is it possible to do it? Or should I but 2 carts, one for nds and the other for 3ds? I want to test the ds download play functionality which is not achieveable in emulation.
